Hey gorgeous ghouls and glitterati! It's your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to sparkle and shine, and you know what else I'm ready for? Another adventure! I'm in a particularly sparkly mood today because guess where I'm going? That's right, baby, I'm headed to Basildon! I'm not sure if you're aware, but it's the epicentre of the universe for this fabulous tutu queen (cue dramatic music and air kisses)!
This little Pink Tutu Sparkles canāt remember the last time I was in Essex. To be fair, I wasnāt on my pink tutu mission yet. And Essex is always such a fun challenge ā itās like I have a brand-new stage for my big pink tulle explosion, all those fantastic people who've never experienced the majesty of a tutu before! It's like a blank canvas, just waiting for me to add a sprinkle of fabulous. Oh, and this is a real trip in the sense that Iāll be there for a few days, not just for one night. I have a real special show planned!
How does one get to Essex? By train, of course! Now, there are certain perks to being a travelling drag queen - and having my own designated suitcase is just one. There is the one big one, though. Do you think there are many, oh I donāt knowā¦ MEN, that get a first-class carriage ticket just because of a single item they are travelling with?!
Youāll have to let your imagination take over, because that's exactly how I did. My big tulle-licious friend had to come in first-class with me. Theyāre not used to that much pampering, you know. They really are the pampered diva, compared to me, the queen. I must remember to give them a bit of glitter from time to time to show my appreciationā¦ even though it can be very hard to clean.
I do have to mention something that may seem a bit silly for some but it does have a big effect. This whole journey started with me being given this rather splendid and HUGE pink sparkly backpack. So if Iām trying to get to a venue in time, I literally use this thing. I mean, let's be honest, a suitcase just doesn't say āIām a rockstar ready to make your day bright!ā so my massive pink sequin backpack just has to do the job, doesn't it? But do not, and I mean DO NOT try to lift this one thing without my consent, otherwise, it can become more backpack than human! I also always make sure to have a little portable makeup kit for emergencies, which makes travelling SO much easier! (Don't ask me where it goes because itās another little travelling secret)
So, the day has arrived when my amazing sparkly, sparkly, Pink Tutu Queen show will grace this town with a truly divine experience! It was lovely just to take a walk around. And this place - oh, this town! The people were incredible! I am trying to get all of you gorgeous people to go out there and get your own tutus! Itās the pink way to do life! Even for a town like Basildon.
Right, now onto what was, shall we say, a "rather good" time in Essex - in which case this is, if you want to be technically correct, āhow my fabulous pink tulle tutu helped change the lives of these gorgeous people in Basildon!ā.
I think it was the fact that I was trying to create something unique and something fabulousā¦ it was a really great success. One lady had the most incredible tutu, but it was a bit plain. And so what does a good Pink Tutu Queen do, of course, add more glitz, add more pink! I mean you can never have too much, really. A tiny little amount of pink glitz made all the difference, and then that really encouraged her to use some pink tinsel as wellā¦ I really hope that was going to set off a little pink revolution in Essex, because you can never have too much sparkle in this crazy world.
Right, I just wanted to say, thank you, Essex. If you were in my audience - I canāt imagine what the place will be like next yearā¦ so if anyone has a tip, tell me.
