Blyth: Pink Tutu Sparkles Does the North East!

Hiya darlings! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles, signing in for blog post number 5862! Today I'm bursting with excitement to tell you about my fabulous weekend adventure in Blyth, a lovely little seaside town up in the North East. As you all know, I just adore exploring the UK, and this time I took a delightful train journey north for a show at the fantastic Blyth Arts Centre.

You know, sometimes it's a struggle to squeeze in all the travel, especially when I'm working at the lab during the day and preparing for my night time performances. But that's just the way life is, darling! Balancing lab coat with sequins isn't easy, but hey, who needs sleep when you've got tutus to twirl! 😉

This particular weekend was particularly special because it involved the magnificent Blyth Festival – you've got to love a good arts festival, right? It's always full of fun, music, theatre and oh, those costumes! And my performance at Blyth Arts Centre was no exception, my darlings! It was truly a dazzling night filled with singing, dancing and sparkly pink tulle! You know me, I just couldn't resist adding a little bit of extra sparkle with my custom-designed tutu! I think it went down a storm, especially with all the kids in the audience - tutus are always a hit with little ones. 💖

Before I took to the stage, I had the absolute pleasure of taking in the festival’s colourful tapestry of events. My journey began in the morning with a captivating performance by the Blyth Youth Ballet – such young talent! Their energy was contagious. I found myself utterly captivated by their dedication and skill – those leaps and twirls were out of this world. I knew I had to check out their rehearsals and offer my expert tutu advice – after all, everyone deserves a perfectly fitted and flattering tutu! 💕

Naturally, my day in Blyth wouldn’t be complete without a bit of retail therapy, and that is precisely what I did! First, I ventured to Blyth’s delightful High Street – oh my, darling, I found some gorgeous shops! It was like stepping back in time with so much charm, and the friendly shopkeepers were absolutely delightful! It’s not just about the tutus, darling. It’s about discovering the little details of each town, its history and hidden treasures!

Of course, I wouldn't let the chance of exploring Blyth's coastline slip away! The sea air truly was invigorating! A quick stroll on the sandy shores after all that shopping and performing made for the perfect blend of invigorating relaxation. And I’ll let you in on a little secret, my dear blog readers, it’s been a while since I’ve been to a proper seaside town and enjoyed a proper fish and chip dinner on a bench overlooking the sea. Simple pleasures, darling, simple pleasures!

Speaking of pleasures, Blyth's bustling Saturday Market held a special appeal for me. You wouldn't believe the array of unique gifts and handmade treasures I stumbled upon. I even found a gorgeous hand-painted pink tutu for my collection! The whole place was so lively – people selling their crafts and the delightful chatter buzzing through the air, it was a joy!

And, let me tell you, my day at the Blyth Festival had a truly heartwarming climax. The Blyth Choral Society – oh, their voices! They brought tears to my eyes with their passionate rendition of “The Pink Tutu Song,” specially composed by a talented local musician in my honour. My dearest, imagine! A song dedicated to pink tutus! 🥹 A few audience members even joined in, making it the most incredible, emotionally-charged moment I’ve experienced in quite a while. And yes, it was definitely emotional. Tears were shed, darling!

It's moments like these that truly highlight the unifying power of pink tutus, don't you think? Sharing my passion for dance and bringing a smile to so many faces, it's a joy, a real joy! It really made my little heart sing!

You know, some may ask me "why pink tutus, Alex?" I often wonder about it myself, dear readers! It started in university, my dearest, I was doing my science degree, testing fabric in the lab all day, and to give you an idea, I was absolutely in love with ballet! In fact, I'd even join the uni’s ballet club every week, though the outfits were rather restrictive... Until, one charity night, I got to try on a tutu! It was love at first sight! Pink! It just suited me perfectly! And it started there, I've never looked back since!

Every day I try to bring my own special brand of sparkle and joy to the world through the language of tutus. My ultimate mission, as I've said many times, is to spread this infectious enthusiasm and get everyone, everywhere wearing a pink tutu. You know, a touch of whimsy, a touch of "just because!" 💕

And remember, life’s a dance, and pink tutus are meant for twirling!

Much love and lots of sparkle,

Pink Tutu Sparkles. 💋
