Today marks my 6042nd blog post and let me tell you, it’s been a whirlwind! After my smashing performance at the last county fair, my diary has been absolutely jam-packed. So many sparkly invites and lovely bookings, but Dewsbury was definitely a highlight. It’s been an absolute dream of a day, filled with twinkling lights, incredible performances, and – of course – a sea of fabulous pink tutus!
From Derbyshire to Dewsbury: A Journey in Pink 🚂🌸Now, I wouldn’t dream of heading anywhere without a bit of glamorous travel, would I? So, off I went from my Derbyshire abode on the most charming train journey imaginable. The train ride was a whole experience in itself - with the sunshine streaming through the windows and a playlist of disco hits booming through my headphones, I felt like a dancing queen before I even arrived! It’s amazing what a splash of pink and a great tune can do for a girl.
Speaking of pink, my outfit was a showstopper – a custom-made blush pink tutu with shimmering diamanté detailing that would make Cinderella jealous! And it wouldn’t be Pink Tutu Sparkles without some bold accessories. A pair of sky-high glitter pumps, a statement feather boa in vibrant flamingo pink, and a tiny crown of pearls atop my hair completed the look. I truly believe that every journey deserves a touch of sparkle, even a train trip to Dewsbury.
Dewsbury's Dazzling Welcome 💖As I arrived, I felt the electrifying energy of Dewsbury buzzing in the air. It was a bustling hive of activity with shops bursting with colour and excitement. The friendly people greeted me with smiles and enthusiastic cheers as they recognised the majestic pink tutu from my photos online. I knew this was going to be a truly spectacular day!
Of course, a good show is a must when visiting a new location. And let me tell you, the talent in Dewsbury did not disappoint! From local musicians serenading the streets to energetic dance routines that sent shimmers across the pavement, Dewsbury was a veritable festival of creativity. I was truly humbled to be surrounded by so much artistry and vibrancy.
A Night at the Theatre 🎭After an afternoon filled with sunshine and spectacular performances, I got to experience the charm of the local theatre. The theatre was absolutely stunning! Elegant with a warm atmosphere, I felt like I was walking onto the stage myself, complete with a dazzling stage backdrop and soft velvet seats. The show was a breathtaking ballet performance, leaving me utterly speechless with its grace, elegance and artistry.
This town's dedication to culture, particularly to ballet, had me completely captivated. It's no secret that I adore the ballet – from pirouettes to graceful arabesques, it's a passion I cherish. The dedication and precision that these dancers displayed on stage was truly inspiring.
My night in Dewsbury ended with a quiet cuppa and a few bites of delicious dessert from the local cafe. It was the perfect way to unwind after such a delightful and inspiring day.
Finding the Pink in Every Place 🌸I find the best part of traveling as Pink Tutu Sparkles is experiencing the diverse cultures and personalities of every town I visit. From a local farmer's market where I tried some delicious fresh-baked pies (that came in shocking pink, of course) to meeting fellow theatre lovers and sharing stories about their own journeys in the arts – it's an incredible journey of meeting extraordinary people. It reminds me that there's so much joy to be found in sharing and learning, no matter what town I find myself in.
And just when I thought Dewsbury couldn’t get more charming, a group of schoolchildren, with wide-eyed wonder, asked if they could take a photo with me. In those wide, bright eyes, I saw the future of Dewsbury: full of wonder, joy, and – dare I say it – a hint of pink!
Dewsbury, you have my heart!
