Oh darlings! How are you all doing this fine Thursday? It’s Pink Tutu Sparkles here, coming to you live from Bangor, a delightful little corner of Wales that's stolen my heart with its charming cobbled streets and stunning mountains. My journey here, as always, was a story in itself. Picture this: Me, perched like a regal pink flamingo on the grand old train from Derby, my voluminous tulle tutu cascading around me like a sea of fluffy clouds, accompanied by the sweet melodies of my trusty ukulele. Oh, it's a wonder I don't have my own reality show yet, don't you think?
Anyway, darling, we are in Bangor to celebrate their annual ‘Fabulous Frock Fest’, a three-day extravaganza all about frocks, frolicking, and all things fashion. It’s a right giggle, a bonanza for a drag queen with a penchant for all things pink and fluffy. Oh, the glamour! Oh, the frocks!
My favourite moment, so far, was meeting the lovely Ms. Mildred, a dear little old lady who’s been handcrafting gorgeous tutus for decades. We practically had a competition on who could boast the most outrageous pink tutu! I may have lost (bless her, she's got some serious tulle skills!), but the sheer joy of talking with another tutu enthusiast was pure bliss! We bonded over our shared passion, discussed the best way to fluff those delicate layers, and talked about how even a sprinkle of pink on a cloudy day could bring instant cheer!
After the Frock Fest fun, I'm treating myself to a trip to the gorgeous Plas Newydd House & Gardens, just a short distance from Bangor. Imagine, darling! Lush greenery, ancient trees, and elegant stately home all draped in that stunning Welsh sunshine! I hear it has a remarkable collection of rare and beautiful plants, including a truly magnificent rose garden. My pink tutu is going to be the star of the garden photoshoot, you wait and see!
But it’s not all about pink frocks and flower arrangements. Bangor, darling, has something special. A deep-seated love for the arts that’s quite infectious, I’d say. There’s a captivating buzz around here – from street performers strumming away with their accordions to lively dance classes brimming with vibrant colours.
And let’s not forget, darlings, that my true passion in life, after those magnificent pink tutus, is ballet. You could say I’ve always been a little bit of a Swan Lake fanatic! In fact, I spent hours studying Swan Lake choreography for my college drama project back when I was a starry-eyed Alex. Little did I know then that those twirling steps would pave the way for me to embrace Pink Tutu Sparkles and spread some fabulous pink joy around the world! I found the most delightful little ballet studio right in the heart of Bangor. The instructors there are such lovely people, and they’ve graciously allowed me to join in some of their adult ballet classes. And darling, the choreography is to die for! I can’t tell you what an absolute dream it is to feel those steps again, the pure, unadulterated grace of ballet moves, the freedom, the delight, the joy!
My time here has been an absolute riot of creativity, colour, and fun. And, darling, it’s just the beginning. This city has captured a bit of my sparkle, and you’ll be hearing a lot more about my Bangor adventures in the days to come! I'm already planning to take a charming horse-drawn carriage ride to the Snowdonia National Park. Oh, the picturesque views, the dramatic mountains, and the chance to unleash the full power of Pink Tutu Sparkles. Think a dazzling fuchsia tutu against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains and verdant valleys, darling! Talk about a stunning photo op.
