Hello my darling darlings! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with another instalment of your favourite daily dose of glitz, glam, and...pink tutus, naturally! 😉 Today's adventure takes us to the charming town of Beckenham, a veritable haven for culture vultures like yours truly. Buckle up, because this one's going to be a whirlwind of fashion, fabulousness, and...a whole lot of twirling!
Now, as you know, my dear readers, my heart beats for all things ballet, and Beckenham happens to have a fabulous dance studio tucked away in its lovely streets. Spoiler alert I'm gonna be taking a class, and I can barely contain my excitement! But before we get to the dance floor, let's chat about the journey.
My journey to Beckenham was... well, a bit of an odyssey. You see, dear readers, my love of trains is almost as deep as my love of pink tutus! The sheer thrill of a good old fashioned train ride just can't be beat! So, of course, I couldn't resist travelling by rail! And just like always, it was an absolute blast! It gave me time to prepare myself - to give my hair a little primping, pop on a few layers of sparkly pink mascara (you know the one!) and do my favourite twirling warm-up moves! Every single passenger just adored the whole scene! And I adore spreading some cheer! Who needs a train carriage of drab dull colours when you've got Pink Tutu Sparkles on board? It's all about colour!
Speaking of colours, let's talk about my look for today. I'm a true believer in embracing your inner sparkle, even when it's for a simple ballet class. Now, you wouldn't expect anything less than a pink tutu, would you? But this time, my loves, I've added a touch of drama. The tutu is a majestic lavender affair, all layered and full of volume, you know, like a proper fairytale princess! I've paired it with a shimmery silver top and my go-to cherry red platform heels (a little splash of colour can never hurt, right?). Oh! And don't even get me started on my sparkly pink eyelashes. Talk about dramatic. It was such a joyous outfit to put on that I just knew I'd sparkle the entire town of Beckenham!
The studio itself is a delight, like a little oasis of pink and glittery wonder. It's full of mirrors that practically beckon you to put on a show. I think it was definitely the perfect space for me to be at! And to think - it wasn't even a proper performance venue! I mean, just the name... The Pink Flamingo Dance Studio - how could a drag queen like myself even resist, dear readers?
As soon as the class started, the magic began. The other students were a delightful mix of young and old, beginners and seasoned dancers. But the sheer joy they showed as they danced had everyone smiling! You could see the sheer wonder in their eyes as their graceful, beautiful moves unfolded. For a moment I truly forgot the world outside! The sound of the music was amazing, the feel of the floor under my feet was exciting, and every move I did was pure, blissful perfection! We warmed up, stretched, learned new moves, practiced what we'd learned, and at one point I did a whole choreographed solo (of course, the floor mirrored was the perfect setting!) They gave me an over-the-top, full blown, enthusiastic standing ovation...which of course I bowed for! And let's be real, darlings, that's the best part of the class - when the clapping starts, you just know the dancing was excellent!
My darling friends, I always say, life is about taking a chance, spreading a little bit of pink glitter wherever you go. So next time you feel hesitant, step into that studio, try on a sparkly outfit, or just do a little dance on your kitchen floor... and who knows, maybe, just maybe, you'll end up on a little train ride to a lovely town like Beckenham. 😉
