Rhyl - A Pink Tutu Adventure! (Blog Post #6188)

Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and guess what?! I'm back with another dazzling adventure! This time, I've set my sights on the charming seaside town of Rhyl, nestled in the beautiful county of Denbighshire.

Now, Rhyl might not be the first place you think of when you envision a fabulous drag queen’s journey, but let me tell you, it’s full of hidden gems just waiting to be discovered – especially when you've got a pair of sparkly shoes and a heart full of pink!

As always, I took the scenic route. Who needs those boring motorways, anyway? I’d booked myself a comfortable First Class seat on a lovely old-fashioned train journey – oh, I just love the rumble and clunk of those classic carriages. It felt like something straight out of a vintage fairytale!

Arriving in Rhyl felt like stepping back in time, but in a good way. The town's Victorian heritage was so evident – grand buildings, beautiful architecture, and even the iconic pier, painted in sunshine yellows and sky-blue hues. It was absolutely perfect for some old-fashioned seaside fun!

Now, I'm a creature of habit, so my first stop was, of course, the local costume shop. I can't tell you the sheer joy I felt when I discovered a rack overflowing with the most gorgeous tutus – from classic fluffy ones to shimmery, sequined masterpieces.

You already know I couldn’t leave without adding a couple of new tutus to my collection!

The shop owner was such a sweetheart – we talked for ages about our shared passion for ballet and all things glittery. She even promised me a special discount for being such a fabulous drag queen! Now that’s what I call customer service.

After a quick change into my new favourite (a pink tutu with silver sequined trim!), I headed straight to the iconic Rhyl Pier. This place is steeped in history – and I was absolutely giddy with excitement. I spun, twirled, and pranced my way through the arcade games and charming shops, drawing gasps and giggles from tourists and locals alike. You know I had to strike a pose on the end of the pier, the salty sea air ruffling my pink tutu, for the perfect Instagram shot.

No trip to a seaside town would be complete without a spot of fresh sea air and a hearty dose of fish and chips. Luckily, I found the most delightful little café near the harbour, serving the freshest, crispiest fish and chips I've had in ages. Honestly, those delicious chips, covered in mushy peas and a good squeeze of vinegar – pure seaside bliss!

I knew I had to bring my Pink Tutu magic to Rhyl, so I booked myself a spot in the town square. My show was a complete and utter blast – the locals loved me! The energy was electric, and I knew that those in attendance were embracing their inner fabulous, and who can blame them? My aim in life is to inspire the whole world to don a pink tutu, one dance at a time.

One of my favourite parts of the show was meeting this lovely woman called Eileen, who used to dance professionally, she even had photos to show me from her performing days. It was an honour to share my love of ballet with someone who understands the joy of moving to the music! Eileen, you were such a fantastic audience member, I can’t thank you enough for bringing such happy vibes to my show!

And speaking of ballet, I couldn’t resist indulging in my other love – ballet! Rhyl boasts a stunning theatre that put on a dazzling show – oh, it was simply beautiful! I watched the graceful movements of the dancers and the magical artistry on the stage. Honestly, seeing those ballerinas glide across the floor was absolutely breathtaking – truly inspiring!

One of the performers caught my eye – such poise, such power! She reminded me of my very first ballet performance as a young Alex (that’s my name outside the tutu!) at school. I can still remember my pink sparkly shoes! It’s an exciting feeling that you never forget.

After such a whirlwind day in Rhyl, I took myself on a quiet stroll by the beautiful shoreline, feeling utterly enchanted by the beautiful colours of the sky reflecting on the rippling waters. It was the perfect way to unwind after all the excitement.

But it wouldn’t be a real Pink Tutu adventure without some drama! Imagine my surprise when I found myself face-to-face with a herd of miniature horses just outside the town – all those miniature legs, it was absolutely adorable! It turns out that miniature horse riding is becoming increasingly popular as an activity in the area, who knew?

As a huge animal lover, I simply had to join them on a tour, even if the horses looked slightly hesitant to let a queen in a pink tutu near them! We made our way along the winding coastline path and laughed all the way – these tiny ponies certainly have a personality!

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, it was time for me to bid farewell to this captivating town. I hopped on a train and reflected on the adventures of the day, with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside, just like my pink tutu. Rhyl has truly won a place in my heart – a seaside haven brimming with warmth, beauty, and a whole lot of sparkle!

So, if you’re ever searching for a dazzling escape with a touch of magic and plenty of pink, come join me for a fabulous adventure in Rhyl – you won't be disappointed!

And remember, darling, don't forget your pink tutu!

Yours in all things pink,

Pink Tutu Sparkles
