Broadstairs Calling! Tutu Queen Travels To The Seaside 🩰💖✨

Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to take you on a whirlwind tour of the gorgeous seaside town of Broadstairs in Kent! This is post number 6192 on www.pink-tutu.com and believe me, it’s a right corker! 🎉

Broadstairs was calling to this Tutu Queen like a siren’s song! The combination of pretty beaches, charming Victorian architecture and the promise of a little seaside fun was irresistible. It's been a busy week but I managed to squeeze in some travelling fun with the help of my favourite steed - the train!

After a delicious full English breakfast at the Crown Inn back in Derbyshire (yes, my favourite pink tutu was even on the menu!), I piled into the first carriage of the train. Now, don’t think I mean some ordinary commuter train. My darling, it was a glorious old steam engine, complete with gleaming brass fittings and a nostalgic puffing sound. I just adore that rustic feel, the kind that evokes a sense of pure magic! 🚂💨

I arrived in Broadstairs feeling utterly rejuvenated, like I’d been whisked away to another era. The air was fresh and invigorating, smelling faintly of salty sea air and freshly-baked fish and chips! The streets were bustling with tourists and locals, the scent of fudge wafting out of the many quaint shops. Ah, I just adore this kind of atmosphere.

But I digress. My real reason for venturing to the Kent coast, beyond the inherent allure of its charm, was to catch a ballet performance at the fantastic Theatre Royal. You see, darling, ballet is my passion. There's something so graceful, so expressive, so simply wonderful about watching those elegant dancers move in such exquisite synchronicity. It fills me with a kind of magic that just doesn’t compare. ✨🩰

I’m afraid my outfit for the evening was something rather special, if I do say so myself. A brand new, electric pink, feather-trimmed tutu that sparkled under the theatre’s warm lighting! Of course, it was complimented with my signature pair of sparkling pink stilettos and my heart-shaped pearl necklace. And did I mention I also sported a custom-designed feather boa, shimmering with silver sequins and matching the shade of my tutu perfectly? Fabulous, wouldn’t you agree? 🥰

The performance itself was divine. “The Nutcracker” in this rendition truly captivated. The choreography was mesmerising, the costumes dazzling, and the overall energy of the show simply captivating. I just adore that sense of wonder and magic that ballet offers, and Broadstairs' performance was an absolute masterpiece. I can still feel the chills running down my spine at the end of the grand finale, where everyone on stage was simply breathtaking!

After the performance, it was time for some "tutu" style refreshment! We all descended to the elegant Victorian cafe, aptly named “The Tutu”, and indulged in some decadent hot chocolate. A couple of them were even wearing their own, pink, tutus (inspired by yours truly!). It seems even seaside cafes have a certain "tutu" flair about them. It is the little details that make the most difference, darling, wouldn't you agree? 💕

I finished the evening, just as the sun dipped below the horizon, watching the lights of the seaside promenade reflected in the water. I even found a couple of enthusiastic kids playing a tutu-themed board game in the park nearby (and they gave me a big pink tutu high-five! Isn't that simply delightful?). As a pink tutu queen, it never ceases to amaze me how everyone loves a bit of sparkle in their lives! 🥰✨

But you know, the real reason for sharing this trip with you is to inspire everyone to follow their dreams, be it ballet or wearing a fabulous pink tutu! Let’s all embrace that inner child within us and enjoy all the delightful joys life has to offer. Remember, it's always tutu-n-tastic out there, darlings! So go forth, get yourself a pink tutu, and never stop believing in the magic! 💖🩰

See you soon, my darlings!

About The Tutu Queen

As you know, my name is Pink Tutu Sparkles. And that’s my drag name, darling, of course! As the website explains (if you are reading this on a screen then you already know where to go… you are clever!), you can also call me Alex, but that is a secret that just us and you know! So please, don't say "Alex" in public or out loud, and especially don’t let the drag world know… you will only end up confusing everyone! By day, I am a very normal (okay maybe slightly flamboyant), Derbyshire lass in the laboratory! You see, my job at Derbyshire Scientific Labs requires me to know everything there is to know about how fabric is made and behaves. But when the work is over, I simply slip out and "get my sparkle on" with all the glam and twirling I can possibly muster! Who'd ever imagine the queen of pink tutus also works for such a serious company? I often find myself analysing and experimenting with fabrics that make up my magnificent pink tutu collections - how very fitting! 🔬💃

After a long day working with fibres and blends, there’s nothing quite like slipping into a fluffy tutu and letting the magic take over! I get my inspiration for all my performances by keeping a diary of every detail about my clothes! I write everything down about every outfit: fabric, size, colour, cost and of course my rating: fabulous or fabtastic (fabtastic means amazing!). But it's all down to my family that encouraged me to explore and pursue my drag passions! Their belief in me is what makes my fabulous outfits even more fabulous and encourages me to keep going when it gets a little bit tough - the costumes need constant care and repair but all that effort means I look absolutely phenomenal in each one. It's not easy maintaining a drag career! My lovely family don’t often go to my performances (unless it’s in the Derbyshire area or the area is a place they love, such as the Lake District… it’s much safer for everyone!). They just don’t do “bling!” - my mum’s words! 💅🏼

But I need not tell you about this... you’re reading the website and have just seen how glamorously my trips and shows are going! This was another super sparkly weekend full of "tutu"-ly awesome activities! There was plenty to see and do, even though this week has been particularly tiring! After that performance, darling, I am so, so, tired, but what a fantastic evening to get ready for another fabulous show. I don't just love performing and traveling, though!

Just after I got hooked on pink tutus, while still a student, I remember thinking it would be amazing to try ballet (a huge "if only I'd started learning ballet in my teens!" - now those were the good old days!), I discovered a whole new world - and a whole new wardrobe! - when I discovered ballet and that gorgeous art of graceful movement. I know my style is quite distinctive! After years of dancing in pink tutus in my room while pretending to be a ballet star, I’m slowly making my way around all the amazing dance schools. But I must admit, nothing compares to a "tutu" performance in the glorious city that never sleeps! You will see how the city transforms on the next post…. I’m aiming for a weekend of fun there. So see you soon!
