Rochdale: The Pink Tutu Adventures Continue! 🩰💖

Hello, darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad adventurer, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from the charming town of Rochdale! Yes, I know what you're thinking, "Rochdale? Not exactly the first place you think of for a drag queen on a whirlwind tour, is it?" But that's precisely why I'm here, my darlings! I love to discover new corners of this beautiful world and share the Pink Tutu love wherever I go. And Rochdale, I can assure you, is absolutely bursting with hidden gems.

Now, before I start rambling on about this quaint Lancashire town, let’s recap my journey! After a triumphant (and rather chilly) performance at the local fayre in the heart of Derbyshire, I decided a train ride was just the thing to get my pink tutu sparkling. I packed my luggage (an oversized duffel bag - I've learned the hard way that nothing travels as well as a carefully-packed pink tutu) and set off to Rochdale! I can't resist a good train journey – the clackety-clack of the wheels on the tracks always puts me in a dreamy mood, especially with the dramatic landscape rolling past the window. It’s like being in one of those old romantic films, except with pink tutus!

As I said, my heart is always yearning for new discoveries and adventures, and Rochdale was just the ticket! The moment I stepped off the train at the quaint little station, a feeling of excitement filled the air. The townspeople were friendly, the buildings were beautifully preserved (even if I have to confess they could use a splash of pink paint), and the scent of freshly baked pastries drifted through the air. This was it! This was where I knew my inner glitter-loving ballerina had found its new home.

Naturally, I went straight to the heart of town and tracked down the most fabulous shop window I’ve ever laid my eyes on. It was filled to the brim with sparkling pink frocks, gorgeous accessories and oh, those heels! You bet your bottom dollar I took full advantage and bought enough glittery goodness to make a drag queen's heart happy for a week! My mantra is “Always be sparkling, always be fabulous!” (And of course, “always wear a pink tutu!").

Speaking of fabulous, that evening was a roaring success. I held my own performance in a fantastic pub, the “The Rose and Crown,” in the town centre. The crowd were fantastic! There was a real sense of community here, and even though they had never seen a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance before, they danced and cheered along. Honestly, it was a highlight of my journey!

But before the performances began, it’s vital you understand I like to give the local town an extensive tour! For the day was about exploration and I just had to show off Rochdale’s hidden secrets. So, I took a gentle stroll along the canal – I swear the sound of the water was whispering “pink tutus” to me, even the ducks seemed to agree – before stopping at one of the charming little tea shops. They didn’t have pink tea (quelle horreur!), but their cream tea was simply heavenly. Now, my love of pink is fierce, but even I know that good old-fashioned tea and cake never fails to lift a queen's spirits.

One thing that impressed me most about Rochdale is the history! Imagine my joy when I discovered their majestic Victorian theatre, The Plaza. A theatre is my happy place! I mean, where else can you find the joy of lights, drama and storytelling in a venue fit for a queen? (especially one clad in pink tulle!) Now, let's be honest, you haven’t seen a Pink Tutu Sparkle performance unless you’ve seen me perform “Swan Lake” in a packed theatre! So, needless to say, I was on a mission to get a closer look! Sadly, it was closed for renovations.

Never mind, there's nothing that a quick gallop on horseback couldn’t fix! This is my secret weapon for truly exploring the areas! And, as an extra touch, I couldn't help myself – my little pink tutu adorned my steed (I have an extensive pink tutu wardrobe!)! Yes, even the horses in this charming town have succumbed to the power of the pink tutu! I felt like a true fairytale princess. But for all its historic charm, it was the warmth and the people that really made Rochdale such a delightful place to visit. There’s a strong community spirit, and people are always up for a good laugh and a chat.

On the subject of good laughs, I'm not ashamed to admit, the real highlight of Rochdale was not a theatre, a performance or a fabulous outfit – it was a meeting with a group of delightful little girls in the town centre who were dressed up in ballerina outfits. One tiny darling, in her pink tutu (bless her little heart!), ran right up to me, gasped, and then burst out, "Pink Tutu! I'm your biggest fan!” And from that moment on, my heart soared. Seeing a child inspired by my Pink Tutu magic… it truly filled my world with joy.

But even for a Pink Tutu-loving adventurer, all good things must come to an end. And, with a tinge of sadness in my heart, it was time to wave goodbye to Rochdale and set off for my next destination: York. Yes, that magical historic city!

So stay tuned, darling readers, for a whole new adventure in pink tutus! Follow my Pink Tutu journeys here at www.pink-tutu.com or simply search “Pink Tutu Sparkles” on your favourite search engine. Trust me, there's a whole lot of sparkly, pink magic coming your way!

And remember, never be afraid to wear your pink tutu - be proud, be fearless, and let your pinkness shine through!

Until next time, Pink Tutu Sparkles xoxo

P.S. For those who didn't know, this is just another pink tutu-filled adventure for a gal who's actually Alex in his real life, just an ordinary scientist by day, and a shimmering Pink Tutu Sparkle by night. My obsession with tutus began during my university years when I became part of a ballet club. The rest, my darlings, is history. My life is filled with glittery dreams and fabulous discoveries, and I'd love for you all to join me on this journey! You can even join the pink tutu club and share your own experiences. After all, the more pink, the better! 😉 💖
