Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-wearing drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and guess what? I'm back with another blog post! Today’s adventure is from Scarborough, that gorgeous seaside town on the Yorkshire coast, which truly deserves to be adorned with a sprinkle of pink sparkle! This trip was such a twirling, fabulous journey, it’s been buzzing through my brain all week. Let’s get right to the sparkle!
So, after a fantastic weekend gig in Sheffield (you just have to visit that gorgeous Crucible Theatre!), I knew I had to catch a train to the seaside. Now, I’m a huge fan of journeys by train or horse, but alas, I had to choose the steel horse on this trip. I was, however, absolutely spoilt with gorgeous views from my window. That rolling countryside scenery - just breathtaking! I settled into a plush, comfy carriage, tucked my diamante-covered purse by my side, and whizzed towards the shimmering coastline!
Honestly, the sea breeze, the scent of salty air - it's just a breath of fresh air for a pink tutu queen like myself. When I arrived at the charming Scarborough station, it felt like I was stepping right into a postcard! My show was booked at The Royal Ballroom, which is this gorgeous old venue with a ballroom so large and beautiful, it really feels like something out of a ballet movie.
Oh my gosh, you guys! The people of Scarborough really embraced the pink tutu sparkle! It felt magical! I had people of all ages requesting photos and clapping their hearts out during my performance. Honestly, you wouldn’t believe it, I had even managed to convince a local baker to decorate a giant cake with pink tutu frosting! Talk about a sprinkle of joy, right?
I found myself on the Scarborough pier after my show, dancing beneath the shimmering lights of the Ferris wheel with a hot chocolate and a scone, of course! The whole place had a touch of that magical, twirling, fairy tale magic that I simply adore!
After a couple of hours, I made my way back to my hotel for the night, buzzing from a fantastic evening of glitter, sequins, and of course, my beloved pink tutu. My room was adorned with all sorts of colourful decorations, reminding me of a vintage doll's house, with its ornate mirrors and twinkling fairy lights. What a beautiful oasis after a whirlwind of a day!
In the morning, I went exploring! That beautiful cobblestone town, with the castle towering above the beach and its hidden, winding alleys brimming with unique shops – it felt like a whole new world! Now, you guys know how much I adore vintage clothing! Imagine my joy when I stumbled upon this incredible shop filled with vintage fashion treasures and fabulous shoes that made my heart beat a little faster. I felt like Cinderella walking into the ballroom in the shop - it was practically dripping with sparkle and glamour!
It wouldn’t be a true Scarborough visit for me without a wander along the beautiful beaches. The sand was just begging to be twirled on! As a total girly girl at heart, I was in heaven, you guys. You just couldn’t beat the seaside air and the glorious views from the cliffs. I did, of course, get to twirl around a bit and let the pink tulle flow, because, well, it's almost impossible not to twirl on a beach, right?
Of course, any seaside trip wouldn't be complete without indulging in delicious seafood. I am a huge fan of all things delicious, and let me tell you, the freshest fish and chips I found were absolute perfection! I savoured each bite, surrounded by the joyful seaside atmosphere. Just amazing!
As the sun set on this spectacular town, I boarded my train back, feeling grateful for the joy of travel, and carrying the Scarborough magic in my heart. You see, my goal in life is to spread as much pink tutu joy and wonder as possible! After all, pink tutus should be embraced by all! Don't be shy, ladies and gentlemen - be brave, have fun, and be your most fabulous self!
As the train rattled towards home, I already knew, with a happy sigh, that this would just be one chapter in my fabulous adventures. My life as a drag queen is like a shimmering fairytale, always filled with colour, excitement, and a sprinkle of magic, and I am so incredibly grateful for each and every moment. I can't wait to see what's around the corner, ready to twirl into it, tutu in tow!
