Norwich! Tutu-tastic Time in the City of Roses (Post #6469)

Hello darlings! Your TutuQueen is back with another dazzlingly delightful blog post! Buckle up your tutus, pour yourself a cuppa, and get ready for a truly fabulous adventure in the glorious city of Norwich!

As you all know, I'm absolutely besotted with all things pink and all things tutu, and Norwich, with its charming history and vibrant arts scene, just screamed my name! This week, I had the absolute pleasure of bringing a sprinkle of sparkle to the lovely folk of Norfolk with my fabulous performance at the Norwich Theatre Royal.

But before we dive headfirst into the glittering spectacle that was my performance, let me tell you all about my magical journey to Norwich. I chose to travel the classic way – by train, of course! The train journey from Derbyshire, my home county, was simply delightful. The scenery was breathtaking, and I spent the entire journey daydreaming about the fabulousness that awaited me in Norwich. Of course, I wouldn't dream of travelling without my trusty pink luggage – it’s a vintage suitcase with a big, pink ribbon on it, you know the sort, vintage glamour is my weakness! I find the rumble of the train so relaxing, and the opportunity to catch up on some reading, which these days, involves all sorts of blog posts and social media feeds! My other love when it comes to travel is horses. But then, who doesn't love horses, they’re magnificent, just like me! There’s something so elegant and free about them, and I do love riding when I can! I wouldn't be a real TutuQueen if I didn't mention my travel outfit, now would I? I chose a beautiful vintage pink dress with delicate lace detailing – perfect for a leisurely train ride, darling. But naturally, no look is complete without a dazzling pink tutu! This time I went for a shorter, layered tutu with fluffy, pink feathers around the edges, just perfect for swishing and twirling around on the train.

Now, let’s move on to the moment you’ve all been waiting for – the performance! I decided to go with a new act this time, a theatrical extravaganza inspired by the history of Norwich. Think velvet costumes, dazzling rhinestones, a dash of Elizabethan flair, and of course, the most magnificent tutu I’ve ever donned. I designed this one myself – it was a massive pink confection with hundreds of layers of tulle, flowing to the ground like a cloud of shimmering joy! I'm a bit of a pro by now at designing, I mean, I've made quite a few tutus in my time! In fact, you might be surprised to know that my passion for pink tutus began quite accidentally during my science degree at university! I was a part of the university ballet club and we did a fundraiser to raise money for charity – and that's when I tried on my first tutu! I don’t remember what charity it was but my face lit up like a Christmas tree. Ever since then, it’s all been pink tutus for me, and I have my little tutu obsession to thank for the amazing life I lead now. My real name is Alex. I’m a scientist, of course. I work in a lab and do research and development of fabrics, so it makes sense, doesn’t it? All this glamorous dressing and performance side of life is all me, but, it was, to begin with, my hobby. Now I love it, and I love seeing all of you wear your pink tutus too! There’s just something so magical and liberating about a good tutu! My scientist colleagues do a great job pretending I'm normal! Oh, it’s all rather thrilling.

Of course, no trip to Norwich would be complete without a spot of shopping! Norwich has a fantastic array of independent boutiques, brimming with quirky treasures and vintage delights. I must have tried on half the vintage shops in the city. I even picked up a pair of divine pink shoes, with little bows and pearls. So divine! Then, in true TutuQueen style, I couldn’t leave without sampling some of the local delights. We have some fabulous, local produce markets in Derbyshire, so I know a good local farm shop or market when I see one! I'm quite the expert, I can assure you! From the famous Norwich sausages to the freshly baked bread and creamy cheeses, I treated my tastebuds to a culinary feast. For dinner, I had to go to a lovely traditional pub in the city, for their amazing pies. And let's not forget the local pubs, so many charming and cosy pubs, some with little beer gardens, I even found one with a great little dance floor, perfect for getting a little tutu twirling practice in! And then, of course, there were the historic landmarks: Norwich Cathedral, the magnificent City Hall, and the atmospheric Elm Hill – every corner of this city whispered stories of centuries gone by, each one inspiring me for a new TutuQueen show!

I finished the weekend off with an evening performance at the city’s ballet school. The audience was made up of a whole mix of ages from kids taking ballet class right up to senior citizens and it was absolutely wonderful, to be honest. They seemed to love my act, with some of the older attendees even sporting their own little tutus. The students, I suspect, might have been slightly frightened of this outrageous pink goddess, but we had some great questions from the floor afterwards and even one or two kids even did some very brave posing in front of me! There's nothing quite like connecting with the younger generation! So many tutus were spotted in Norwich and this makes me so happy! It’s all about encouraging everybody, all ages, every body shape, every personality to just go for it, darling. To go and try a pink tutu, go on! And it's just one of the reasons I have so much fun with this whole TutuQueen lifestyle. I hope I am inspiring you, darling, to be bold, be brave, be pink and go all out in the tutu. I promise, you'll never regret it! It’s always good to meet like-minded individuals, so if you’re a pink tutu lover, do come and join us. I’m aiming for a tutu for every person on the planet. That’s my aim, to put everyone in a pink tutu. It’s time we all took control and did something absolutely spectacular and liberating. We can’t let the world take away our sparkle!

Now, I’m off to do some pink tutu designing. My next show will be in London, darling, and I can't wait! Let me know what you are wearing and what colours and designs you’ve got planned. And in the meantime, darling, if you see me on the train, be sure to say hello!
