This week, the sparkle-train rolled into Rochdale, a town with a vibrant spirit that's positively bursting with personality. And, let's face it, who better to explore it than a dazzling, tutu-clad drag queen?
Now, let's be real, folks. Sometimes a girl (or should I say queen?) needs to escape the routine, to dive into a whirlwind of tutus and glitter. And Rochdale? Well, Rochdale delivered!
The train journey itself was a fairytale adventure. Imagine, comfy leather seats, endless cups of tea, and views that transformed from Derbyshire green meadows to bustling cityscapes. It's just one of the many reasons why I, Pink Tutu Sparkles, advocate for train travel!
Once I reached Rochdale, the air practically shimmered with anticipation. My dear friends, I'd been invited to perform at a fundraising event for the local dance studio, and let me tell you, the welcome was just as warm and fuzzy as a brand new pink tutu. The dance studio itself was a haven of joy - a beautiful space brimming with young dancers. I swear, I felt like a fairytale character, complete with glittery tutu and an even glitzier personality! I'm talking pink everything: pink ribbons, pink banners, and of course, pink tutus. It was truly magical.

A stroll through the bustling town centre, amidst the independent shops, vintage boutiques and cafes, reminded me that true beauty often lies in the unexpected. Speaking of fabulous, I stumbled upon a little haven of pure delight: a quaint boutique that stocked the most beautiful selection of handmade tutus you've ever seen! I, of course, had to indulge in a new tutu for my performance. I mean, you can never have too many tutus, right? Especially when they’re in shades of flamingo pink!
The night of my performance was electrifying. The energy in the air was so palpable, I felt like I could practically reach out and touch the excitement buzzing through the room. From the moment I took the stage in my new flamingo pink tutu, I knew this was going to be something special. I gave it my all, my usual repertoire of pirouettes and grand jetés, accompanied by a delightful mix of my favourite show tunes and modern pop anthems. The applause, my friends, was absolutely deafening. The whole audience - young dancers, parents, even grandmas - was lost in the world of sequins and fairy tale fantasies!
But for me, the real magic happened after the show. I had the pleasure of talking with the young dancers, inspiring them to follow their dreams, to embrace their individuality, and to never be afraid to express themselves, pink tutu or not.
