Borehamwood Bound: Tutu Tales from a Pink-Loving Queen!

Hello my lovelies! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back with another post for you lovely lot! Can you believe it, this is post number 6644 for your favourite pink tutu wearing queen! Oh, itā€™s been a whirl, an absolute whirl, but I wouldnā€™t have it any other way!

You know, every queen needs her fuel, and today's dose is sunshine, giggles, and a healthy dose of tulle. Oh, and glitter! You simply can't forget the glitter, especially when I'm on a trip, oh no, especially when I'm heading to a place as wonderful and glittering as... Borehamwood!

This, my darlings, is a dream trip. Not just because Borehamwood is just the perfect blend of sleepy countryside and vibrant city life (seriously, how can they keep all the wonderful places a secret, it's an absolute delight!), but because I get to combine my love of performing, tutus, and trains into one gloriously sparkly trip!

I always say, travelling by train is such a civilised way to journey, isn't it? You can be all glamorous and relaxed, read a book, look out of the window, maybe even have a cheeky little snack (my secret shame: I always get a triple decker cheese and pickle sandwich, just the way I like it!), all without the hassle of a packed airport! And honestly, what's more exciting than watching the countryside zip past your window? Itā€™s like watching the world go by, but much faster!

But before I start spilling the beans on my dazzling adventures in Borehamwood, let's rewind just a smidge, because every story has a beginning. This journey, you see, all started way back in my days studying at uni, in the good ol' days of my science degree. I was trying on this super bright pink tutu at a fundraising event for the university ballet club, and well, letā€™s just say it was love at first fluff!

It was like a sudden epiphany, like a little fairy twirling a magic wand and saying ā€œthis, dear girl, is your destiny!ā€ Suddenly, the world was a brighter, bolder place. And letā€™s be honest, scientists can get a bit... boring! It was time to unleash my inner, glittery queen and spread the love of pink tutus far and wide.

And so, Pink Tutu Sparkles was born! The science lab by day became my haven for all things textile testing, and by night, I transformed into the sparkly sensation that is my drag persona, ready to rock the stage with my love of ballet, music, and of course, pink tutus!

But my story isn't about hiding away in the lab, it's about sharing that joy, sharing the love, sharing the passion. And for that, thereā€™s nothing better than performing, isnā€™t there? Especially in places like Borehamwood. From cozy pubs to sprawling town squares, I'm here to spread a bit of sparkle and encourage everyone to embrace the power of a well-chosen pink tutu!

And let's face it, the possibilities are endless! Itā€™s about breaking down boundaries and spreading the love. I might be just a small town girl from Derbyshire, but my passion for this whole pink tutu thing knows no limits. I want everyone to know that a pink tutu isnā€™t just a piece of fabric, itā€™s a state of mind.

Itā€™s about having the confidence to be yourself, the courage to be playful, the audacity to sparkle! You can be a scientist, a teacher, a doctor, a mum, a studentā€¦ whoever you are, if you've got a pink tutu hiding in your wardrobe (or dreaming about getting one), then own it, embrace it! And letā€™s all bring a little extra sprinkle of magic to this world, together.

Now, I hear you all saying ā€œPink Tutu, why the dramatic story of the origin, what about Borehamwood?ā€. Oh darlings, how right you are, there are so many sparkly things to see and do here!

I'll give you a little rundown, if youā€™re sitting comfortably...

My trip started, like any fabulous journey should, at the station, and I just had to do a little photo shoot in the most glorious pastel pink train station you've ever seen! There were these gorgeous pink mosaics, oh my gosh, it was just the perfect backdrop for a full Tutu Queen photoshoot, with the sunshine sparkling off my dazzling tiara and matching shoes! I have to say, the passengers gave me some appreciative looks, they even got my ā€œpose for the camera!ā€ and everyone was smiling and happy. It just goes to show that a bit of Pink Tutu can really brighten up your day!

Now, when youā€™re travelling in style, what better way to complete the picture than a fancy hat? And for a stylish queen with a pink tutu on, you bet Iā€™d had to find a stunning hat that matched, wouldnā€™t you agree?

After my train adventures, I took myself off to ā€œHattitudeā€, a shop that, oh, just have a look for yourselves: it's a place thatā€™s all about headwear, from the simple and elegant to the outrageously extravagant! My jaw dropped at the sheer abundance of hats: from vintage bowlers and extravagant feathers to whimsical creations bursting with flowers! I tried on about twenty different ones before settling on this stunning bright pink wide-brimmed straw hat adorned with cascading feathers. It just had to be mine!

I mean, who doesn't love a good hat? I reckon every day should have a Hat Day, right?!

But this trip was about more than just glamour and hats, oh no. This trip was about celebrating those who wear the tutu with pride. I popped down to the Ballet and Dance Centre, a school that provides amazing dance instruction to budding young performers. They have everything from classical ballet to contemporary, hip hop, street dance - the list just goes on and on! My inner tutu-wearing princess just couldn't contain her excitement, I just had to drop in for a lesson!

Of course, no self-respecting tutu queen can miss a good show. So, my next stop? The fabulously decadent ā€œRoyal Shakespeare Theatreā€. Of course I had to book a ticket for a performance that showcased the true beauty of dance, and the one thing I just love, it's got to be Ballet! I am utterly obsessed. Imagine graceful dancers moving in perfect harmony with the music, twirling and leaping like a dream. And let's face it, who wouldn't love a chance to witness a grand display of art, movement, and artistry all in one?

I was transported to a world of passion and wonder, I lost myself in the elegance, the precision, the sheer beauty of it all, oh my! The performers had this almost magical ability to tell stories with their bodies. Every step was intentional, every glance full of expression. After a night of graceful movements, twirling ballerinas and beautiful storytelling through dance, I just felt completely revitalized. Oh the wonders of dance and how a good ballet show makes you feel!

But the wonders of Borehamwood aren't just about ballet, my dear dears, the next morning, I decided to explore and had an absolute ball!

I hopped on my horse ā€“ I like to travel by horse in the afternoon when the trafficā€™s calmed down, it makes the day so much more glamorous - and went on the most fabulous walk along the canal. The sun was out, and there wasnā€™t a cloud in the sky! There were these delightful cafĆ© barges with tables by the water, just perfect for a little picnic and watching the boats glide past, and just enjoying the peace and tranquillity. Itā€™s amazing how much joy you can find in the little things! But when you're a Tutu Queen, every day is about joy, love, and glitter!

Later in the day, I stopped in the town square. You canā€™t miss it, a glorious place to shop, but more importantly for me, there was an amazing little boutique tucked away. Oh the glitter and sparkle! It was like stepping into a world where pink was the main colour! It was full of gorgeous gowns, sparkly dresses, beautiful shoes, and oh, so many glittery accessories! And there I found it, my little piece of heaven! A magnificent sequined pink clutch bag, completely in-line with my vision, with a giant fluffy pink pompom just as I like. Just the perfect final touch for my new look!

In the evening, it was back on the stage for a little gig for some of the local folks at the Borehamwood Pub. You wouldnā€™t believe it, they actually knew the lyrics to my most popular song, ā€˜Don't Let Your Dreams Go Pink!ā€™ Oh the laughter, oh the dancing, it was a truly magnificent evening!

As the night came to a close, the town settled into its evening hush, I sat down by my hotel window and gazed at the twinkling lights. What a trip this has been, I couldnā€™t be more grateful for this little getaway. Itā€™s a little tutu escape and a reminder that thereā€™s so much to discover, explore, and embrace in the world. And donā€™t forget, always add a touch of sparkle to your day.

Thatā€™s it from me today. Donā€™t forget to pop back tomorrow for the next instalment of my tutu travels over at www.pink-tutu.com . You can also find me on my socials ā€“ follow @PinkTutuSparkles on Instagram and @PinkTutu on TikTok!

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles (a.k.a Alex)
