And today, I'm getting one step closer with this spectacular trip to Shenley Brook End.
My outfit for tonight? Well, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance without a dazzling, oh-so-pink tutu, naturally! But this time, it's all about subtle, feminine elegance with a touch of sparkle, a little like a ballerina meets a glamorous 20th century flapper! 🤫
My favourite part about drag is the transformative power of costume! It allows me to explore different facets of myself, stepping into the spotlight as a playful, powerful and, dare I say, inspiring drag queen. 💖
But the truth is, my real self, Alex, is just as enthusiastic about this flamboyant persona! You see, my love for pink tutus started way back when I was studying science in Derbyshire, where I became smitten by the graceful artistry of ballet during university! 🧪 🩰
After joining the university ballet club, I tried on a tutu for a charity fundraising event and realised something life-changing - it was like magic! ✨ I fell head over heels for the twirling, the flow, the sheer loveliness of it all, and it sparked a passion that continues to this day!
But the path to Pink Tutu Sparkles wasn't always smooth. Juggling a full-time science job with a vibrant drag life can be tough! 😅 My daytime world is filled with lab coats and fabric analysis, but come evening, the lab becomes a dressing room, and I become the magnificent Pink Tutu Sparkles, a queen of the stage! 💫
Fortunately, the skills I learnt in the lab, studying the texture, properties and colours of different fabrics, became surprisingly helpful in choosing my outfits and costumes! It's funny how life throws curveballs, isn't it? 😉
And, speaking of life throwing curveballs, this journey to Shenley Brook End is one for the books! First, I decided to take the train for the first part of the journey, soaking in the serene countryside views from the carriage window, sipping a pink lemonade for extra sparkle! 🚃🍹
Then, to top it off, the kindest family offered me a ride on their beautiful horse! 🐎 You'd be surprised how easy it is to wear a full pink tutu while horseback riding! 😜 (I think the horse thought so too!)
But what's even more incredible about this journey is the welcoming spirit of the people I meet along the way! Everywhere I go, folks have been absolutely thrilled to see Pink Tutu Sparkles arrive, a burst of pink sunshine in the bustling streets and even quieter corners of the countryside! 💖
