Luton, Oh Luton, You’ve Got Me All in a Fluster! - Post #6728

Hello my darling little pink-loving fluffballs! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite travelling drag queen and proud advocate of all things pink, fabulous, and, of course, tutu-tastic! It’s been a wild ride getting here, but I’m thrilled to be in Luton, a town that seems to have a peculiar love for pink, judging by all the shops with their rose-hued awnings!

Oh, darling, do you want to know what’s got me all in a fluster? This whole travelling queen business has really thrown me for a loop, but I’m embracing it. Imagine, travelling the country in a flamboyant, ruffled dress – it’s like a fairytale! But I’ll admit, a lot of the excitement comes from finding the right place to store my arsenal of pink tutus. I'm sure there's a room in the Luton Hotel with my name on it, packed with plenty of fluffy storage space.

Before I set off, I was scouring my favourite vintage shops, picking up some real gems to give my act that extra spark! Oh, you wouldn't believe what I snagged – a 1950s feather boa in the most glorious shade of flamingo pink! It's the perfect accessory for my opening number, and it'll have all the crowds swirling with joy.

Getting here wasn’t all glitter and rainbows, darling. This time I opted for the train, because I’d been craving the comfort of a compartment all to myself to indulge in a spot of reading. I brought a classic – 'The Princess Bride' – just the sort of enchanting book to get my creative juices flowing for tonight's performance!

Oh darling, can we just talk about tonight’s performance for a moment? I’m all jitters, but that’s just my nervous excitement for all the fun! This time, it’s going to be a bit different. I’m debuting a new act inspired by all things 'Strictly Come Dancing' – think shimmering ballroom gowns and elegant lifts! The perfect showcase for my favourite hobby: ballet!

Speaking of ballet, my love for those delicate, swishy tutus, all those frills, sparkles, and colours – well, that’s how Pink Tutu Sparkles was born, darlings. I wasn’t always a queen, you know, just a humble Derbyshire lass. My name's Alex by day.

I studied science at university, a long way from the dazzling world of drag. I loved lab coats – even wore a white lab coat to a fancy dress party – and testing fabrics for a living – a surprising segue into drag, perhaps! But by night, the world of swirling skirts, stage makeup, and bright lights was all I dreamed of. It started innocently enough, darling – just a little charity tutu competition back in university. They caught me with my sparkly shoes and that’s when my true love affair with the world of pink began.

Now, this may be a bit scandalous for you darlings – by day I analyse fabric for durability in the lab, but by night I sashay onto the stage in the most outrageous fabric concoctions!

Of course, finding the right tutu for the occasion can be tricky! Just finding one that suits your mood and vibe takes real concentration. But a queen's got to be creative and use her best fashion brain, especially when on tour!

Here in Luton, I’ve already found the best costume shop, it's tucked away behind a little cobbled alley. It's a haven of glitter, feathers, sequins, and fabrics! I'm already dreaming up my next stage costume – imagine a tulle extravaganza in neon pink, perhaps? With a bit of a rock chick attitude to bring the fire and glamour to the stage.

There’s nothing like the energy of a crowd, a chance to entertain, to see their smiles when I do my thing! You see, my greatest ambition is to get everyone on planet Earth wearing pink tutus.

Not all at once, darling, one fluffy, swirly step at a time!

That's why my blog is a must-read for all those interested in embracing a little sparkle in their life!
