York - Tutu Time!

Pink-tutu.com - Blog Post # 6742

Hello darling! I hope you’re all having a fab day. It’s your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here! My travelling adventures continue, this week taking me all the way to York - oh I can’t wait to get lost in its history, eat yummy cakes, and yes, twirl a tutu around its ancient cobbled streets.

Today’s post is gonna be packed full of twirly goodness as I bring you some exciting updates and tales of how I spread the joy of tutus around the world. If you’ve been reading this blog since I started back in university, you know my story well, but for any newcomers, let me tell you – pink tutus are life.

It’s been a crazy, but fun few months for yours truly. As soon as my latest scientific invention - a stain-resistant tutu fabric – was ready, it was time to head back out on the road. I love my work in the lab but sometimes I just need to go out and sparkle, and I do just that with my tutu performances and travelling around. The amazing part is I get to combine my love of fashion and dance and that's pure magic, darling!

Tutu Takeover Time!

Oh, York - you know, that’s like an open air museum, right? Every corner is a postcard. And oh honey, let’s talk about its cathedral - so big, so grand and, in my opinion, it would look absolutely perfect with a bit of Pink Tutu Sparkle!

Just kidding - I wouldn't actually do that – wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of the York Minster faithful. Maybe I'll offer to do a Pink Tutu fundraiser for them!

After a nice long hot bath and a cheeky cheeky glass of pink fizz to settle in to my new hotel room, I got dressed and made my way down to the streets of York. I'd spent weeks looking at all the cute cafes and eateries – and the place I just HAD to visit? The York Coffee House, honey. They do a gorgeous pinky pink hot chocolate that looks absolutely divine, it had to be a must-try!

As usual, I went full Pink Tutu Sparkles when I strutted in to the coffee shop – there’s no half-heartedness where I’m concerned, my darlings! All eyes on me – my shimmering, beautiful pink tutu did make quite an impact and I could feel that everyone was absolutely loving it! So of course, as is the Pink Tutu tradition – a twirl had to be involved!

A York Tale

To say that I absolutely fell in love with York wouldn’t quite do it justice! This charming, ancient, storybook-esque city truly charmed me, and its energy – it’s a buzzing city without the big-city craziness, honey. I have a sneaky feeling I’m going to have to come back for another visit – I think my bank account can take it – oh, the sacrifices I make in the name of pink and tutu!

First up was Shambles – imagine that, narrow, cobbled streets filled with medieval timber-framed shops! It was straight out of a Harry Potter book! All I can say is – oh the dresses I saw! But even though it was all pretty tempting, I found myself getting a little dizzy with the sheer amount of beautiful clothes I was surrounded by. So much for getting myself a gorgeous outfit – oh the choices were endless.

Speaking of my travels around York, oh darling, my legs needed a little rest and what could be better than to do that with a bit of ballet inspiration, right? Well, naturally, I couldn’t come all the way to York without getting myself to The Grand Opera House! Oh, they had such a fabulous collection of memorabilia, even from back in the 1900s – my era!

A Tutu’s Tale

Onward to another adventure, I made my way to York’s gorgeous art gallery, the York Art Gallery! A little different to ballet – but don’t worry, you know I always keep an eye out for something, anything to be inspired. This art gallery had a small collection of paintings by Van Gogh – which made me feel rather nostalgic - the most beautiful one – oh, honey, I was really mesmerised by it, was of this magnificent sunset - the pinks were just dazzling! If that isn’t enough to send my fashion inspiration into overdrive, I don’t know what is. Of course, with every piece of art I see – the more the creativity flows and that helps with the endless stream of tutu designs I keep creating for the Pink Tutu line!

As any savvy queen knows, when it’s all said and done, it’s really the little details that add up to something bigger. And my day, like every day in Pink Tutu life, wouldn’t have been the same without the little treasures, oh darling! First of all, I just had to take in some York fudge – well you know the old adage “You haven’t really been to York if you’ve not had York Fudge!”, don’t you? So – you know I couldn't possibly disappoint! It was delish! And if that wasn't enough - to top the day off - I found a perfect souvenir at a small, lovely shop, “The Sweet Pea” – how fitting right? The most beautiful pink glittery hair clips with a sparkly little pink pea. I snapped those up right away, because who doesn’t need more pink and glitter?

You know me well – I'm a big fan of theatre, but this trip it was the Grand Opera House, that caught my attention, darlings! A grand name for a beautiful place, all I can say, you can’t help but love that. I didn’t have tickets this time round – so just a quick stroll around its historical exterior to admire all the majesty!

It’s almost time for me to take off for another place - somewhere exciting (you’ll have to wait and see!). But of course before I go, I'd just like to add, York is, as you can imagine a great place to explore and go shopping for fashion - you really have to have some shopping time in York if you come here for your adventures - like I do!

Onwards and upwards.

Right, darlings - off I pop - gotta go prepare my travel looks - I mean it would just be wrong to arrive somewhere in the same outfit twice! My next destination? That's a surprise until next time...

Thanks so much for reading! I hope I’ve brought you all a little dose of Pink Tutu sparkle this week, and remember, my motto – keep it fab, keep it fabulous!

Hugs, Pink Tutu Sparkle x x
