Hello, my darling dears! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad diva, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back again with a blog post just for you! I'm absolutely fizzing with excitement, because this week I'm in the gorgeous Sutton in Ashfield, getting ready for my latest performance! This is post number 6853 on my website, www.pink-tutu.com - I’m making a daily effort to keep my Pink Tutu Diaries fresh and exciting for all my lovely readers!
This little town has a real buzz about it, I could practically hear the cha-cha music in my head as I stepped off the train. Now, some might think a drag queen in a pink tutu wouldn't feel right in a place like Sutton in Ashfield. Well, they’d be so very wrong! This town has welcomed me with open arms. The people here have been so kind, even the pigeons let me share my chips on the train platform! It was like stepping back in time, but in the best way! Think vintage tea shops, cute antique stores with twinkling lights, and a quaint market square, oh, the smells, darling, divine!
The journey is always an adventure:
And oh my, my travels getting here! It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles blog post without a little travel talk. My journey involved a grand adventure on the train. I'd packed my enormous, glittery "tutu bag," the kind that makes other passengers swivel in their seats just to see what wonders lie within! The excitement was just beginning!
This train was filled with some seriously fabulous characters: there was the adorable grandma knitting away with a yarn that matched my tutu, a grumpy-looking gentleman with a hat perched atop his head that rivaled my own, and a couple that were practically radiating with that newly-in-love glow, which was simply divine. They even shared their chocolates with me!
And if the train wasn't fun enough, the walk from the station to the hotel was just as lovely. There were adorable shops lined up along the road with tempting treats like cupcakes that matched my sparkly pink makeup and oh-so-sweet flowers spilling out of hanging baskets! I can tell you, it was enough to get any diva excited!
Pink Perfection in every detail!
Of course, every performance starts with getting myself looking absolutely flawless, and trust me, this is where things get REALLY exciting. I don't want to give away my entire act, but let's just say this show involves sparkles, more sequins than you can shake a feather boa at, and a giant, shimmering pink tutu that makes everyone gasp! (And I don’t mean gas like farting… although, I do have a killer burp routine in my repertoire. It’s something I learnt back when I was still studying my science degree... let's just say I've learned how to harness the power of physics to achieve maximum burp effect. Don’t ask how!)
This particular show has a unique touch that I’m really excited about, but it’s a secret for now. Trust me, when I tell you it's pink-tastic and involves a special surprise for the audience. (Think of that scene in 'Pretty Woman' where Julia Roberts goes to the opera... and a special performance makes everyone laugh. Only it's pinker! I might be borrowing a few elements from that iconic scene.)
I am all about inspiring others to express themselves and embrace the pink, so for this performance, I have been running a little “pink-tastic” contest! The prize: a special surprise package that I am designing myself, containing pink goodness for any fan of the color! The winners get a little “Pink Tutu Sparkles’ “ goodie bag with lots of pink surprises, which, let's be honest, makes everything in life just a little bit more dazzling.
It's been a blast creating this performance and connecting with everyone in Sutton in Ashfield. Everyone has been so welcoming, they are truly giving me the “Pink Tutu Sparkle Treatment.” Now, I just need to nail those high notes and make my pink tutu sing!
Pink Dreams & Tutu Goals!
Did I mention that I also booked a fabulous hotel, my darling? This little gem is pink-themed and oozes pure fairytale romance! There are fluffy pink cushions everywhere you look, sparkly pink lampshades, and you simply cannot ignore the delicious strawberry macarons that are served alongside pink champagne for afternoon tea. Oh, I’m just melting over here!
As you can probably tell, I love my travels! Each trip is different, a new adventure to inspire the pink tutu enthusiast in us all! This week’s Sutton in Ashfield performance was truly wonderful and it made me reflect on just how important it is to always go beyond your comfort zone. Even a Derbyshire girl like me can bring a bit of glitz and glamour to a town like Sutton!
