Hello lovelies! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and guess what? Your girl's just back from a whirlwind trip to the fabulous seaside town of Great Yarmouth! Now, I've been wanting to visit this historic little seaside town for ages, and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint! This post is number 6884 on my fabulous blog - can you believe it?! I think itās time to add a little tutu sparkle to all your travels! š
This trip, just like all my adventures, was a total dream! I got to combine my love of the ocean (seriously, what's a drag queen without a bit of salt air?) with my all-time favourite activity - wearing my dazzling pink tutus, of course! You're probably wondering how a girl gets to traipse about the world, all decked out in shimmering pink? Well, let me tell you - this fabulous queen here does it all herself!
You see, I'm a bit of a Renaissance woman. By day, I'm Alex, a lab scientist in Derbyshire, working with all sorts of fancy fabrics - testing for strength, durability, you know the drill! But when the sun goes down and the lights are up, Alex steps aside and Pink Tutu Sparkles shines! My love of ballet started as a kid, and it blossomed in my university days. Studying science can be quiteā¦wellā¦ serious. I joined the uni ballet club and we did a charity performance. They put me in a tutu, and that was it - I was hooked. The feeling of the floaty fabric as you moveā¦ just divine. And it was PINK, no less!
It's that same spirit of embracing colour, joy, and sparkle that fuels my adventures! My passion for performance helps pay for all the glitzy train journeys and the best horse rides I can find! You know me, I've gotta get to that coastal air! Whether it's a glamorous seaside gig or a family fair in the heart of the countryside, Pink Tutu Sparkles brings the magic!
Anyway, back to Great Yarmouth! First stop was a traditional seaside hotel! The place was decorated with all those charming pastel hues - a pink tutu-lovers dream! The hotel breakfast was just lovely, delicious pastries and my favourite - English breakfast tea with lots of milk. I even had a glass of bubbly for my tea at one point, why not! I know some drag queens will tell you they like strong, bitter coffeeā¦ but not me! I love a good strong cuppa! It gives me the perfect fuel to perform and just generallyā¦ sparkle. š
From there, I was ready to hit the famous promenade! You can't miss the massive carousel with its giant colourful horses. I had to ride one - with my tutu, of course! Everyone was so thrilled to see me! Little children would yell āTutu! Look!ā They absolutely loved it. Their parents would smile and nod in appreciation as they grabbed their cameras! I donāt mind being photographed, itās what Iām here for, I have to give the people what they want. They really get the meaning of #TutuQueen!
After the carousel, a bit of ice cream seemed only natural. I couldnāt resist an enormous waffle topped with strawberry ice cream, smothered in sprinkles and drizzled with chocolate sauce. What could be better on a beautiful summer's day in Yarmouth than this? The kids love seeing the queen eat! I'm not really supposed to eat chocolate, it stains the tutu but, hey! Itās Great Yarmouth, it's a treat, it's a special day.
Great Yarmouthās golden beach was next, oh my! Just imagine: blue skies, warm sunshine, a stunning sandy beach... perfect! But then the real fun began!
I brought my own colourful folding beach chair so it was super glam when I sat and did my usual "photo shoot" session! The colours in the beach setting - the soft sand, the deep blues of the ocean, the warm yellow sunlightā¦ my pink tutu just bounced off it. It looked amazing. But there's more! You see, this time I came prepared - I brought along my collection of inflatable pink swans. The pinkest of pink. So I did the classic inflatable swan photo shoot, complete with my shimmering pink tutu. Naturally, I posted all the photos on www.pink-tutu.com, with the hashtag #TutuQueen and a few of my favourite summery hashtags like #sunandsand, #seasideadventures, and #pinktututime.
I also did something really unique ā I hired a professional photographer! Not just any photographer though, no, we went down to the beach to shoot pictures with the iconic Victorian cast iron seafront! These structures look almost otherworldly.
If you haven't been to Great Yarmouth yet, I'd highly recommend going. It's an amazing place to let your hair down and just soak up all the fabulousness of life. Whether it's your love of history, a passion for colourful carousels, the stunning seasideā¦ it really does have everything. And if you're a bit like me and you can't resist a bit of glamour and glitter, be sure to rock a pink tutu. It'll bring an extra touch of magic!
Before I say goodbye, I wanted to say a little more about the vibrant seaside town.
There's always a fantastic atmosphere there! And it's not just about the colourful scenery. Itās the local people too! You see, everyone loves a bit of Pink Tutu Sparkles - and I absolutely adore their welcoming energy. I always have such wonderful interactions with people! Especially those with their kids - the mums love a bit of sparkle! You just see their faces light up as their children squeal with excitement.
You can find all kinds of delights in the historic town, from charming cafes and tea rooms, to bustling restaurants, little artisan shops with souvenirs galore and plenty of historic buildings to discover. It's a great mix of fun and culture. Thereās always a great range of things to see and do. Oh, and you can't miss the colourful market stalls!
And don't even get me started on the shows and the nightlife! If you want an incredible, vibrant night out, with fantastic dancers and singers, Great Yarmouth will not disappoint! The perfect opportunity for this TutuQueen to spread her glittery wings!
