Portsmouth: A Tutu-tastic Adventure!

Hey lovelies! It’s your favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back for blog post number 6969 (did you spot the hidden rainbow in that number, haha?). I’m on the road again, bringing the pink power to the masses and spreading tutu joy far and wide. Today's destination? Portsmouth, a lovely little seaside town brimming with history, nautical charm, and plenty of space for my majestic pink tutus to twirl.

Before I go on, have you heard about the big news?! I’ve actually been featured in the Derbyshire Times! Apparently, my tutu-themed "Get Out There And Dance" motivational message is making waves in the county where I was born and bred. Can you believe it? The scientist by day, tutu queen by night is getting a little local fame - I’m officially on cloud 9!

Now, back to Portsmouth...

It’s the second time I’ve performed here and, oh honey, I am living for this seaside air. My day started early, like 5am early! (My glam routine isn’t a walk in the park - but it's definitely worth it to look as fabulous as possible!). It was just a short journey on the train from London - a great chance to take in the gorgeous English countryside. Train journeys are fab because you get to meet such amazing people. I made friends with this lovely couple heading to the coast for a seaside holiday - the husband was a retired carpenter and had actually made some stunning rocking horses! Now that is a story for another time!

I arrived at my dressing room - which was perfect - a proper little theatrical room with a vintage vanity set! The lights were dim, the walls were painted a gorgeous blush pink, and a huge mirror with a gorgeous heart-shaped frame made me feel like a true vintage Hollywood starlet. I got down to business and started my transformation… I put on my best vintage tutu - a gorgeous shimmering silver-grey tulle, perfect for catching the sunlight. It had the prettiest baby pink bows at the waist and was paired with a sequinned vest top - you just know I love some sparkly sequins. (They truly make the look!) My make-up today? All pink - even my eyeshadow!

But darling, let's get real… This wasn’t your average performance! Today I was invited to participate in the Portsmouth Maritime Festival! Imagine the scene, - a historical backdrop of historic ships and stunning docks. But the most amazing thing was that I was chosen to lead a tutu flash mob! Now, you're thinking this has got to be a good story! Well, let me tell you it was better than a storybook, it was utterly phenomenal.

My tutu crew came in a lovely fleet of cars, we all got ready in the space behind a cafe, and then BAM, we launched into our big pink dance! The theme was a 1920s era "flapper" style but in my signature pink tutus! People just stopped what they were doing! They stopped their walk, they stopped their meals, some even threw a few coins my way for my effort! They were all just glued to our dancing - some people even got up and started to move with us - it was incredible!

Now, for a true Pink Tutu Sparkles confession: It wasn’t all smooth sailing… You see, someone thought they had the amazing idea to do an impromptu balloon drop during the performance - it’s pretty easy to tell I’m not a huge fan of clutter (it ruins a good tutu photo opp). The moment all those balloons went flying over our heads… you should’ve seen my face! It was like someone spilled a whole cup of Earl Grey tea on a freshly polished table, such a mess.

Luckily, we carried on with the routine and somehow managed to do it gracefully. (Remember kids: never give up!).

And finally... what was the BEST part of the Portsmouth journey? It had to be my fabulous meet-and-greet at Portsmouth Harbour, where I had the privilege of sharing the real meaning of wearing a pink tutu. Let’s face it - it’s all about bringing joy and fun to people - because life is way too short to be anything less than fabulous! So, I got to chat with so many awesome people about how I started, my vision for the future, and most importantly how pink tutus can help to make the world a better place - one twirl at a time!

It’s been a phenomenal day - a real highlight for my year so far! So much so, that I’m considering making Portsmouth a regular pit stop for my fabulous performances! The town itself was beautiful - all the stunning architecture - and everyone I met was incredibly warm and welcoming.

As the sun starts to set and my dazzling tutu-ed legs are aching from all that twirling, I can't wait for tomorrow. My heart’s filled with gratitude for the amazing support - a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone in Portsmouth who got involved in the #pinktutusparkle and let’s just say: more pink is always better.

See you on the road,
