Northampton Sparkle! - Pink Tutu Blog Post #6984

Oh, hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! I've just returned from a magical trip to Northampton, a place I must admit I'd never visited before. It was pure sparkle from start to finish!

This journey started with a journey, as usual. I do love a train journey, you know, settling into my seat with a cuppa and a good book (at the moment I'm devouring 'Pride and Prejudice' for the hundredth time!). But, of course, I've got my tutu tucked away neatly in my carry-on. A queen's never unprepared, darlings.

Northampton greeted me with open arms – and an array of shops! This girl can't resist a good frock or two, and let me tell you, Northampton did not disappoint. I spent a blissful hour wandering around a beautiful little independent shop called The Frock Exchange, which was brimming with vintage gems, darling. A few carefully selected additions to my wardrobe are sure to make their debut on stage soon!

Now, let's talk about the highlight of my trip: my performance at the Northampton Theatre Royal. They were absolutely delightful! From the moment I stepped onto the stage, they were mesmerized. Of course, a little "Pink Tutu Sparkles" magic never hurt, and I was literally bouncing with excitement all through my act. We had so much fun, I even got them to sing along with "Tutu-tastic", my new single! It was truly magical!

Before my performance, I spent the morning enjoying the delightful ambience of the Theatre Royal and soaking in all the local history. A true beauty spot! I just love learning about the old theatres, their stories are just magical! Then I headed off for a late lunch, and oh my goodness, darlings, have you ever tried a Northamptonshire pie? They're simply divine! This little pastry-filled feast hit the spot!

And then, of course, there was the ballet class! No trip would be complete without a good old twirl in a tutu, don't you think? The ballet school in Northampton is an absolute gem! It reminded me of when I first fell in love with the ballet as a little girl back in Derbyshire. My dad, bless him, signed me up to ballet class when I was seven, and it just sparked something magical in me. That passion eventually led to my uni days at Oxford University where I was part of their prestigious ballet club. But let's face it, you all know the rest, don’t you?

During one fundraising event at uni, I tried on a tutu for the first time. It just clicked! I felt transformed! A vision of shimmering pink loveliness. And the rest, as they say, is history, darling! It was then and there, under the soft glow of the stage lights that my drag name, Pink Tutu Sparkles, was born. But that’s another story for another blog post!

I’m hoping one day to open my own shop, “The Pink Tutu Emporium”, a dream I hope will come true soon, but for now, you can always find me on stage at all sorts of places - you’ll never know where I’ll pop up! If you want to come and find me, just head over to my website at www.pink-tutu.com. And of course, always remember - it's never too late to sparkle, and never too late to wear a pink tutu!

Sending lots of glittery love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles

Backstage Bits

Now, I can’t end this blog without giving you a peek behind the curtain at what happens backstage. Here’s what you might not know about being a drag queen like me!

  • Tutu Tips You'd be surprised how many things I carry with me. For every performance, it's a carefully organised kit: multiple tutus, some sequins, spare tights, a travel sewing kit, hairspray, hair clips, make-up, face wipes, tissues and a small, silver-studded compact mirror. Don't forget the feather boa!

    • Fashion Finds I love discovering new places. I spend a lot of my spare time scouring charity shops and vintage boutiques. I find a lot of inspiration and unique outfits that way. Who says a queen needs to break the bank to sparkle? And always look out for my Pink Tutu collection - all 38 of them so far. Yes, 38 beautiful, different, gorgeous pink tutus!
  • Horse & Train Travel You all know I love to travel. When I can’t catch the train (it does have its moments, don’t you think!), I hop on a trusty steed – sometimes even a donkey. My friend Jack from Nottingham loaned me his old horse, Jasper. And believe it or not, he loves it. We have some great time in the fields together. The air is always fresh out there, and it just relaxes you!

Spread the Pink Sparkle

Speaking of the magic of travel and performing, I recently had the amazing opportunity to perform for a children's charity. Seeing the kids' faces light up, knowing that we brought them a little joy, made it all worthwhile! That's what it's all about, don't you think, darling? Sharing joy and sparkle, helping make the world a little brighter.

And that brings us to my big mission. I want everyone to wear a pink tutu at least once in their life! Now, you might think, "Pink Tutu Sparkles, what an absolutely outrageous idea! Why would anyone want to wear a tutu?!" But, darlings, trust me, it's liberating!

We live in a world where we’re so focused on expectations. People want you to be serious, proper, all buttoned up! Forget about that! It's about embracing your individuality, wearing a pink tutu with confidence and reminding yourself that you deserve to shine! Why let someone else tell you who you can be or what you should wear?! So, let your true colours shine and embrace that inner sparkle.

Now, off I go, I have a few tutu-filled events to plan. Keep an eye on my blog for all the juicy details. Remember, dear reader, that anything is possible if you dare to sparkle. Sending you lots of glittery kisses.

Until next time,

Pink Tutu Sparkles
