This week's travel involved a delightful journey by train! Now, let me tell you, there's something magical about watching the scenery flash by as you speed along, especially when you're dressed in a beautiful pink tutu! I found myself surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colours and emotions – the vibrant greens of rolling countryside, the twinkling blue of a passing river, the earthy red of ancient stone walls... truly inspiring! I love to make a splash when I travel and a few kind fellow passengers shared how much they loved the outfit – how many people get the opportunity to perform on the train journeys?! I know some folk think it’s “show offy” but my thinking is, it’s up to YOU to shine as bright as you can - the only people you’re dazzling is yourself – because your beauty is for your own enjoyment first. So why not express yourself, because if you feel happy, why not let others see it?
A Tutu-licious Surprise
The journey to Wrexham was a journey of self-discovery too. I always bring along a small sewing kit because one can never be too prepared in the world of a touring drag queen. And when a pesky loose thread threatened my tutu's pristine state, I had to act fast. Imagine my delight when the sweet lady sat beside me, in her very own little crochet corner of the carriage, whipped out a pair of knitting needles and took over! Talk about instant fashion camaraderie! She wasn't a seamstress by profession, she just liked helping others - what a generous act of kindness that was. She wouldn’t let me pay her – such an angel – it was like she wanted to contribute to my journey. My sparkly heart is still overflowing with gratitude! I even got some knitting tips, I was inspired to take up crochet to become even more self-sufficient – but that’s a project for later!
Wrexham: Where Past Meets Present
Wrexham itself, oh my! It's a charming blend of Victorian grandeur and modern-day vibrancy. I found myself mesmerized by the architecture, a perfect example of ‘where the past meets the present’. From the imposing Wrexham Town Hall with its intricate facade to the historic St. Giles Church, every corner is a story waiting to be told!

There’s always a touch of the whimsical in Wrexham’s air, and as the world is becoming a faster paced place, Wrexham held a quiet elegance and calm that really suited me. I went to see a local production of Swan Lake at the Wrexham's charming Little Theatre. You wouldn't believe it, darling, the choreography was utterly captivating! Those graceful swans, their balletic movements, it all just... I felt like I'd stepped right into a fairytale! My heart practically skipped a beat as I took in the dancers' effortless grace and elegant poise.
Pink-Tutu Power: Making Memories
Wrexham gave me so much joy – not just as Pink Tutu Sparkle the Drag Queen but as Alex too. The local folks were all so kind and welcoming, with their big smiles and curious stares at my outfits – after all, you don't see a pink tutu very often in these parts, now do you! As always, the opportunity to perform is my favourite thing - you know the rush when all eyes are on you, when all the hours of rehearsal pay off and it feels like you can really do this, really be here! Even as Alex I make memories I’m sure I’ll be reminiscing about forever – like seeing the smiles on the faces of children as I twirled and danced, all that pink and glitter dazzling under the spotlights. It’s not every day you can see a princess with wings and pink tutus dancing outside a shop – but a lot of those children won’t forget that memory for a long time.
Shopping With Sparkle
Of course, I wouldn't be true to my Pink Tutu Sparkles nature without a little retail therapy, right? Wrexham, to my utter delight, didn't disappoint! I found some seriously fabulous fashion finds at Wrexham's independent boutiques. Imagine a riot of colours and textures - silky satins, bold velvet, intricate lace, and the perfect pink feather boa - a dream for a Pink Tutu Queen on the hunt for the ultimate statement piece. After a day of shopping, I couldn’t wait to put the outfits together and post some pictures - a true delight for my social media followers.
Wrexham's Foodie Delights
The Wrexham foodie scene has definitely put me in my element! I’m always on the lookout for new flavour combinations – that’s why I have the time and the funds for so much travelling. A perfect blend of modern cuisine and classic Welsh delicacies, this place was an explosion of taste sensations, with the most delicate soufflé (all in the timing and ingredients - no whisk needed – all my kitchen is a little spoon to stir) you ever did taste. I had Welsh cakes which had such an amazing sweetness - it was like my favourite cupcakes and the freshest strawberries I’d ever tasted all combined into a lovely pink and sugary dough! They were an absolute explosion of tastebuds, not forgetting, a real ‘Pink Tutu Sparkles’ approved pink latte that had me buzzing until sundown!
Time to Shine
My Wrexham adventure came to an end too soon! As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting an orange glow across the historic skyline, I bid farewell to this remarkable town. But leaving is not a goodbye, it’s just another journey for Pink Tutu Sparkles. This place touched my heart. The warmth, the history, the welcoming nature of its people, it all came together to create an experience I'll treasure forever.
