Hello, my darling lovelies! 💅💋💖 It’s your favourite pink tutu wearing drag queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with blog post number 7094, direct from the fabulously fashionable town of Barrow in Furness!
Can you believe it? I’m off to my third ballet performance in two weeks! I just can’t get enough of the graceful movements and elegant costumes. Who needs a theatre when you’ve got a magical performance happening on the stage?! And speaking of magical, how was your week, darlings? Have you spread the love of pink tutus far and wide? 😉
The Journey:
You see, travelling to Barrow was quite an adventure. My dear friend, Beatrice, insisted we travel in style. She's a big fan of horse riding (I mean, who isn't?), so she convinced me to try riding side-saddle in her new Victorian dress. You know how I am – all for a bit of flamboyance! We took a detour, stopping off for tea and cake in a gorgeous village called Hawkshead – the most adorable spot with little shops, cobbled streets, and the cutest tea room ever!
My only regret? Not having a photo-worthy outfit to capture the moment in. Luckily, I found a beautiful floral dress and matching shawl to complete the ensemble – think a cross between a vintage fairy and a high-society lady. 😉 It did clash a little with the pink tutu but that's just my style - a bit of unexpected flair, y’know?
Ballet in Barrow:
Let's talk about Barrow’s ballet! 💃🏻 This town truly knows how to put on a show! They even had a troupe of dancers in full-length tutus, twirling across the stage, and trust me, my eyes were glued to them! I swear I could practically hear the music echoing through the town square! 🎶
Their production was based on a whimsical tale about a fairy who dances to the music of the forest – awwwww! 😍 I even shed a little tear.
This town is brimming with culture and there's a strong love for dance. My darlings, I couldn’t help but try to teach some of the townsfolk a few twirls myself! Let’s just say they’re more inclined towards a good old waltz, which is perfectly acceptable, of course! 😉
My Tutu Travels:
Let’s just say my journeys around the UK never disappoint. Whether I’m taking the train through the countryside (especially when I've got a fabulous first-class seat) or cruising in my vintage VW camper van (always an eye-catching choice!) every adventure adds a new feather (and maybe a sequin) to my cap.
You see, it’s not just the places I go to but the people I meet that really make this journey so fun. This trip I got to chat with an adorable grandma named Brenda, who was as fascinated with my tutu as I was with her story about meeting her husband at the local Woolworths! (You’ll never guess – it all started because they both had the same taste in…knitted socks!) 💖
Inspiration for Pink:
Let me tell you, seeing everyone dressed in their finery in Barrow, inspired me so much. I'm always on the lookout for the perfect new outfit for my shows, but after witnessing this elegant gathering of stylish people, I’m determined to find the perfect pink, sparkly, frilly ensemble for my next performance. And trust me, it will be EPIC. 😉
This town may be known for its maritime history but let’s make Barrow known for its appreciation for the divine dance of the ballet, and yes, you guessed it – Pink Tutu Sparkles’ love for pink tutus! 😜💖
