Helloooo darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad, glitter-bombing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here with another instalment of my fabulous travels! Today I’m buzzing with excitement to share my recent adventures in the lovely coastal town of North Shields. It's like a whirlwind of fishy tales, salty air and… well, tutus! Oh, and pink, of course, because… well, duh!
So, picture it… me, arriving at North Shields Station looking like a walking sugar rush in my latest ensemble - a bubblegum pink tulle tutu, paired with a feather boa that could give a peacock a run for its money and some blindingly sparkly pink platform boots that could rival the disco ball itself. You know the drill, every journey deserves a fabulous outfit, don't you think?
My arrival in North Shields was greeted with wide-eyed smiles and a flurry of “You go, girl!”'s (a perk of the job, I tell you! ) But then came the real highlight. I found this incredible independent vintage shop that was practically bursting with gorgeous gems just waiting to be discovered. I knew I just HAD to find a sparkly pink accessory for the night's performance! It took me less than a minute, honestly. I found a perfect pink feather headband, which sat upon my luscious, pink-highlighted curls and added a touch of boudoir glamour to my already over-the-top fabulous look!
Let's talk about the show! You see, I had been booked to perform at this amazing family-friendly summer fair on the seafront. Honestly, it felt like stepping into a scene from a children's movie! I just love the magic of these summer festivals. It brings people of all ages together for laughter, games, and delicious treats! My favourite part was definitely seeing all those little girls looking at me in awe – their eyes wide with glitter and delight as I did my thing on stage! They are the future tutu wearers, I tell you! You bet I was singing my heart out - my voice is a real instrument, you know! I had the whole crowd clapping and singing along to my original track about... well, you guessed it... pink tutus. Who wouldn't be charmed, really?
Now, a little tutu-licious behind-the-scenes. Before the show, I always need a pre-performance pampering. What's a queen to do? The answer is simple… get my face painted and hair done! I can't stand to look basic when I'm going to be sparkling in front of a crowd! It's just so me.
The next morning, feeling invigorated and utterly glitter-tastic, I took the most amazing train ride back to Derbyshire - something about a train ride through the rolling green hills gets my creative juices flowing. And guess what? I spent the journey designing my next magnificent outfit... Because if a little bit of pink tutu fabulousness isn't enough... we need to ramp up the glam!
Life as a drag artist, even if you have a very glamorous alter ego like myself, can sometimes be a little… well… hectic. That's why I love going back to Derbyshire and my lab. It's my little oasis of calm - a place where I can actually sit still! By day I am the lab rat (literally, because I spend most of my time surrounded by fabric! ). But I just love playing around with different fabrics, analysing their texture and making them sparkle and shine. And honestly, there's nothing more rewarding than developing a super soft fabric for a tutu! I really love working with colour too, and my colour analysis experience helps when I’m designing my amazing, pink-tutu outfits.
But really, I think I should be telling you all that my ultimate dream is to have the whole world rocking pink tutus – can you imagine? A planet where everyone from toddlers to pensioners embrace the sparkle and twirliness of a beautiful pink tutu! I just know that one day my dream will come true.
