Hello my darling darlings! It's Pink Tutu Sparkles, back from a whirl-wind of a weekend in Norwich, and oh my, it was simply fabulous! You know I can't resist a good train journey, especially when it takes me to a new city to spread the pink tutu gospel. Now, before I go into all the delightful details of my Norwich adventure, let's just say that this post will be bursting with sparkle and colour, just like my trusty pink tulle. And darling, if you haven't realised already, it's simply never too much sparkle or colour, and as I say: a touch of pink can make the world a better place!
So, this weekend, I ventured out to the stunning city of Norwich, and my travels were like a fairytale! You know how I feel about horses, right? They're graceful and elegant, and there's something so majestic about their strength. I managed to squeeze in a carriage ride on the way to my hotel, which was utterly charming! The city was simply enchanting - quaint cobbled streets, stunning historical buildings, and the scent of freshly baked cakes wafting from every corner. It truly felt like I'd stepped back in time! My hotel was absolutely adorable, and the lady who owned it was as sweet as a cup of tea. She even gifted me a hand-knitted pink scarf! I have a secret obsession with pink knitted accessories, just whisper it.
Now, my journey wouldn't be complete without a touch of glamour. Of course, I always travel with my full drag ensemble, complete with the ultimate accessory: a pink tutu! You can't go anywhere without one, darling. The fabric is so soft, so delicate, and the movement as I pirouette on the cobblestones? It's simply magical! You know, a little bit of tulle really adds a touch of enchantment to everything. I'm telling you, my darling darlings, pink tutus really do make a statement. I love seeing people’s reactions – first a surprised double-take, then a smile, followed by a full-blown "Oh my goodness! That's absolutely wonderful!" It's the perfect way to add a little bit of fun and whimsy to any occasion.
Speaking of whimsical occasions, Norwich, you are absolutely packed with fabulous activities! My first stop was a grand old theatre, a real jewel of a building that brought a touch of drama and opulence to the city. They had the most extraordinary play on, all about a young woman who fell in love with a prince but realised that she truly belonged on the stage. A tale for the ages, truly. The sets and costumes were absolutely spectacular! As you know, darling, a touch of drama in my life is a must, it brings out the most creative spark.
But it wasn't just the play that had me spinning! Norwich has some incredible ballet performances, which made me absolutely thrilled. There's just something about a dancer en pointe in a delicate tulle tutu, the perfect blend of grace and strength. I watched in awe as they glided across the stage, each movement filled with such passion and grace, their tutus swirling around them like ethereal clouds. I may be known for my bold pink tutu, but a classic white tutu has its own special charm.
Now, a true Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure wouldn’t be complete without some good old-fashioned shopping. The streets were overflowing with charming independent boutiques and vintage shops, each one more delightful than the next. I just couldn't resist buying a few pieces - a gorgeous pink beret, some beautiful vintage gloves, and a couple of ruffled pink skirts (never enough ruffles!). You know I’ve got to keep my wardrobe up to date!
But before you think I only indulge in frivolous fancies, I must confess, my heart beats for those passionate performances too. Norwich is packed with incredible music venues. One of my favourite places was the local cabaret bar. It was an evening filled with laughter, music, and a little bit of good old-fashioned drag magic! The crowd was simply fantastic, a true mix of ages and styles all enjoying themselves, swaying to the music, and simply soaking up the joyous atmosphere. You could say that the energy was pretty much bursting out of the building, darling!
But no journey, however dazzling, is complete without a good old fashioned English meal! So, of course, I made a pilgrimage to one of Norwich's best restaurants to indulge in some delicious food. The staff was utterly charming and friendly, offering me the best recommendations, and I have to say the roast chicken with mashed potatoes and a side of gravy was just perfection! As my dearest Grandma always said, food brings people together. It’s true, even if I do indulge in a spoonful of extra gravy from time to time.
