Aberdeen: Tutu-licious Adventures in Scotland!

Hello my lovely tutu-tastic friends! This is post number 7247 on www.pink-tutu.com, and it’s Pink Tutu Sparkles reporting live from the bonnie city of Aberdeen in Scotland!

I am absolutely over the moon to be in this gorgeous part of the world, a place brimming with history, charm, and of course, beautiful scenery! Oh, how I do love travelling, especially when I can take a scenic train journey and embrace the beauty of the British countryside! This time, my trip was truly unique, for instead of my trusty four-wheeled steed (aka a cab or an Uber!), I actually rode a horse to the station. It was like a scene straight out of a fairytale – and not to mention utterly pink-tastic! You see, my darling friend Penny, who runs a fabulous equestrian centre, decided to celebrate her 25th birthday by holding a Pink Tutu Charity Ride. How could I resist?! Dressed in my most flamboyant pink tutu and matching riding gear, we galloped across the Derbyshire countryside in a cloud of pink and joy. I'll tell you, it’s an unforgettable way to start a journey, wouldn’t you say?

Now, if you think I travelled by horse because Aberdeen lacks in public transport, let me assure you, you’re mistaken! Aberdeen's a fantastic city with brilliant bus routes and, of course, the legendary trains that whisked me right to the centre of it all. But honestly, when Penny offered, I simply couldn’t say no!

And as for the performance, it was simply magical! I can't even begin to describe the energy, the warmth, and the incredible kindness of the people in Aberdeen! As soon as I stepped onto the stage in my shimmering, fluffy pink tutu, the whole crowd erupted with cheers! I absolutely loved the buzz, the excitement, and the fantastic response from the crowd – every twirl, every sequin, every feather boa felt like pure joy and magic.

However, before I could unleash my inner sparkle, it was time for a bit of culture and adventure, wouldn't you agree? As soon as I arrived in Aberdeen, I made a beeline for the Aberdeen Art Gallery, home to the iconic "The Madonna of the Rocks" painting by Leonardo da Vinci! Honestly, it was simply breathtaking, and so perfectly inspiring! For any art lover, a trip to this beautiful city simply must include a visit to the art gallery. The craftsmanship and detail on this piece truly resonated with me, reminding me of the intricate and meticulous nature of my own work – whether I'm crafting a costume from scratch, creating a flawless pink eyeshadow look, or weaving a sparkly fantasy for my performances!

After immersing myself in the art world, I had to get a bit of exercise in, and what better way to do that than with some fabulous ballet? Aberdeen has a charming and vibrant ballet scene, and I absolutely had to take a class at their world-renowned Dance School. It’s incredible! The ballet instructors are experts, and the passion in the studio is tangible. Even I, with my sometimes less-than-perfect turns, found the class incredibly fun and empowering. You wouldn't believe the lovely ladies and gents I met – even a fellow drag queen from the area came to class in a stunning blue tutu, looking absolutely dazzling! The ballet studio in Aberdeen has become my absolute go-to for feeling glamorous, elegant, and oh-so-fabulous! The magic of ballet never fails to inspire, and the way they teach is pure joy! Even though I was wearing my dance shoes and not my pink tutu, it was all part of the pink-tastic journey!

Talking about pink, speaking of journeys and glamour, I could not let myself stay in Aberdeen without a quick pit stop at a couple of incredible fashion boutiques. You see, every fashionable queen needs a touch of retail therapy, wouldn't you agree? Aberdeen is a treasure trove of incredible shops with designer dresses, shoes, and even stunning hats for the discerning and fashion-conscious queen. I must confess, I was utterly spoilt for choice. It was a true princess-worthy shopping experience, and I ended up taking home a gorgeous hot pink dress, perfect for my next performance. After all, what’s a queen without a fabulous new outfit?

Oh, I can’t forget my most amazing find, my dears – an exquisite shop dedicated solely to vintage clothes and accessories! It was a wonderland of sparkling jewels, flamboyant dresses, and dazzling feather boas. They even had the most perfect vintage pink tulle for my latest custom-made pink tutu! I absolutely felt like a queen stepping out of a glamorous movie. Now, you’d think finding an amazing pink-tastic shop was enough to get my shopping adrenaline going, wouldn’t you? Well, that's when I stumbled upon a boutique entirely devoted to – you guessed it – the most extraordinary and awe-inspiring tutus! There I was, surrounded by a dizzying array of styles and fabrics – fluffy, shiny, sparkling, and of course, an overwhelming abundance of pink! How could I resist adding to my ever-growing collection of tutus?! It was a true testament to the amazing diversity of tutus that you can find in this truly special place, Aberdeen! I even spotted a tutu with iridescent pink and lavender feathers, fit for a ballerina swan princess! How divine!

Of course, my Aberdeen adventure couldn’t be complete without savouring some local treats, especially the legendary haggis! Yes, my dears, even I, Pink Tutu Sparkles, who generally prefers sweets, dipped my spoon into this Scottish delicacy. You know me, I always say, it’s all about trying new things and expanding my pink horizons! And I must say, it wasn't half bad. While haggis might not be as universally loved as a pink tutu, the Scots certainly know how to make it. I especially enjoyed it with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and the sweetest, tastiest neeps – Scottish turnips! So, if you're ever in Aberdeen, make sure to treat yourself to some authentic haggis, you might just be surprised at how much you enjoy it!

From the magical ballet to the historical treasures, from the most dazzling shops to the absolutely heart-warming local communities, I had the most fantastic time in Aberdeen. Now, I'm back in my Derbyshire lair, crafting my next costume and getting ready to spread my pink message of love, acceptance, and, of course, a dash of sparkly, magical magic to my fellow queens across the world! Remember, my darling dears, wearing a pink tutu isn’t just about the fashion; it's a symbol of embracing your uniqueness, of daring to be yourself, and of spreading joy wherever you go.

Until next time, my tutu-tiful friends, stay glamorous, stay pink, and keep those sparkly spirits shining bright!

Love always,

Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
