#TutuQueen on 2019-12-27 stars in Brixton

Hello my darling dears! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to Brixton and ready to spill the tea on all the sparkly fabulousness! As you know, I'm a big believer in spreading the pink tutu love far and wide, and Brixton was the perfect destination for my latest mission.

It all started with a whisper of excitement - a little birdie (a very fashionable, pink-feather-clad birdie, I might add) told me about a fantastic street theatre festival in Brixton. I was already dreaming of twinkling fairy lights, colourful characters, and, of course, plenty of opportunities to spread the pink tutu gospel!

Now, getting to Brixton is half the fun, right? For this adventure, I decided to embrace the spirit of my Derbyshire roots and take a train journey. It’s a classic journey through the English countryside. Just picture me, a vision in a fluffy pink tutu and my signature shimmering cape, looking out of the train window and imagining the adventure that awaits.

Of course, I wouldn't dream of travelling without a full-blown outfit change! I brought my new tulle creation, a bright hot pink concoction with rainbow shimmer and feathers cascading down the skirt. The perfect mix of sassy and ethereal! My suitcase overflowed with tulle, rhinestones, and feather boas (just the essentials, you see!).

Brixton is a treasure trove of vibrant street art and vintage shops. My senses were overwhelmed with the energy, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and the delightful cacophony of laughter and music. I immediately felt at home, surrounded by fellow creative souls. My eyes darted from one fantastical display to another, all while scanning for potential tutu enthusiasts!

First on the agenda? A little retail therapy, naturally! I couldn’t resist the siren song of vintage fashion, especially the overflowing bins of sparkly jewellery and feathers. You can’t have too much sparkle, can you?

Then, it was time for the theatre! I found myself enchanted by a kaleidoscope of acts, each with its own unique flair and energy. There were jugglers balancing flaming batons, acrobats soaring through the air, and captivating street dancers. The air crackled with excitement and applause as the audience reveled in the creative performances.

But the real highlight, as always, was meeting my fellow fabulous beings. One particular young lady, maybe eight years old, wearing a pink polka-dotted dress and bright pink trainers, caught my eye. We spent ages chatting about everything from tutu design to our favourite fairy tales! I presented her with one of my hand-crafted pink tulle rosettes, and I swear, I saw her little face light up. That’s what it’s all about, folks - spreading joy and glitter!

The day ended with a fabulous dance session in a hidden-away underground club. The DJs spun funky beats that had me twirling and twirling, my tutu billowing behind me like a pink cloud. I even spotted a couple of ladies rocking pink tutus of their own - it was a true moment of pink tutu unity!

Leaving Brixton was bittersweet. I was sad to say goodbye to the colourful energy, the warm smiles, and the captivating street performers. But I left feeling energised, filled with creative inspiration, and with a renewed commitment to sharing the joy of pink tutus.

To be a Pink Tutu Sparkles isn't a job, it's a way of life. I've spent years transforming my everyday life into a magnificent symphony of sparkles, laughter, and pink tulle!

My day usually starts with the mundane, or should I say, the mundane transformed! You see, by day, I'm a scientist working in a lab, surrounded by beakers and flasks. Yes, my friends, it's true, a drag queen by night is also a dedicated lab scientist by day.

What’s my scientific area of expertise? Fabric testing! I test the tensile strength, abrasion resistance, and all sorts of technical properties of fabrics. Think of me as a guardian of the perfect sparkly material, ensuring that your outfits will shimmer for eternity! It's surprisingly glamorous, trust me! It allows me to combine my love of science with my passion for fashion!

Between my scientist work and my Pink Tutu Sparkle persona, it's all about timing and planning! It's quite the juggling act!

My laboratory hours usually end just as the evening starts to hum with energy. It’s time to ditch the lab coat and unleash the Pink Tutu Sparkles persona.

First, a quick shower and a serious make-up session. My mirror turns into a kaleidoscope of colourful shadows, shimmery eye liner, and blush.

Then, the true magic begins: my dressing ritual. Every piece of clothing, every feather, every sequined accessory tells a story, evokes an emotion, and celebrates a little bit of everything beautiful and extraordinary.

Where do I get the inspiration for my outrageous pink tutus and out-there performances? My well of inspiration is deep, friends. It flows from my love of classic ballet, the boundless energy of theatrical shows, and my own journey of self-expression.

As a scientist, I am naturally drawn to colour, texture, and intricate details. My scientific knowledge fuels my creative mind and helps me imagine, design, and create. I’m like a scientific alchemist transforming fabric and feathers into a dazzling, swirling rainbow.
