Oh my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to share another dazzling adventure! I've just returned from the charming Welsh town of Wrecsam (or Wrexham if you prefer) after an absolutely fabulous time, and of course, I wouldn't dream of leaving you without a blog post detailing the whirlwind that was my visit! This, my lovelies, is blog post number 7335 – proof that my devotion to this sparkly world never fades.
The journey began as always with a flamboyant flair. Instead of a dreary old bus, I opted for a delightful horse-drawn carriage, with a little help from my good friend Beatrice (we’ll call her the Duchess). You can’t travel like a queen without a carriage befitting a queen, and it added just the right touch of magic to my Welsh sojourn. Plus, you never know, some good old fashioned hoof power might just be the thing we all need to remind us of simpler times!
Now, I know you're thinking, "Wrecsam? Isn't that just a place where they film some rather dreadful TV show?" Laughs mischievously My darlings, there is so much more to Wrecsam! Wrecsam might have its fair share of, ahem, 'interesting' programmes on telly, but that's not what I travelled to discover. No, my attention was firmly on the charm of this little Welsh town, nestled within a valley teeming with history, nature, and, most importantly, amazing shops!
After a spot of tea with the local vicar, bless his heart, he was the absolute darling when it came to putting me up in the best guest room with a little bit of Tudor grandeur, it was time to do what I do best – explore! And explore I did. Wrecsam is home to a hidden world of enchanting boutiques – all the pink delights imaginable – you see, my lovelies, a little something pink makes the most delightful find. I may be known for my tutus, but I'm a creature of habit. I need that little touch of pink in my life, and it makes a journey all the more spectacular. It is, as they say, more fun than a barrel of monkeys, only pink, naturally.
From delicate lace scarves in shades of coral to handmade, pastel-hued porcelain ornaments, Wrecsam, my dears, is a treasure trove waiting to be discovered! Just the perfect spot to get a little shopping done while I contemplate which ballet show to see next! My dears, one does need some entertainment to accompany all these lovely pink delights. A delightful trip to the local theatre always seems to satisfy my fancy, doesn’t it? And with such beautiful venues around, the choice was a delight! There’s no better feeling than taking in the beauty of a local dance troupe perform! I can just imagine my Tutu Queen’s signature sparkles dazzling the local town as I gracefully pirouette through my favourite numbers!
Of course, you cannot go to Wrecsam and not visit the National Library of Wales, now, that is a must for every proper Tutu Queen! The sheer expanse of those libraries is astounding, it gives the most wondrous of feelings – there's always something to learn in every dusty old book. And there's something about an old-fashioned library that's so inspiring! Perhaps it's the sense of history that permeates those book-lined halls, or maybe it’s the whisper of knowledge that seems to float through the air – whatever it is, I love spending time within those glorious hallowed halls, especially when they are the library for a whole nation! I always try to find the books section where they have stories about how people got on, back in the days! A little history keeps a gal going and a story keeps a Tutu Queen shining bright.
Now, on my way through the glorious halls, I did take a small detour, but it was purely for research! This little darling of a town even had an absolute treasure hidden away: the Wrecsam Museum! Now, I wouldn't dream of visiting any town without paying homage to its history and that, my lovelies, is why museums hold such a special place in my heart! As any good queen knows, a sense of history is the ultimate crown jewel! Wrecsam Museum tells the story of the town’s fascinating past and I absolutely loved getting a taste of the vibrant life that once graced the streets! The sheer amount of textiles and fabrics the curator has collected – it’s not an easy job, it’s truly a dedication, and it deserves a royal salute! It certainly made a fine subject for a Tutu Queen to contemplate while creating her next fabulous design. My work takes me all around the country and every stop is an inspiration! I imagine fabrics draped on Tutu Queen, how I would design with such fabulous fabrics. After all, we’ve all gotta keep the world fashionable! We simply must!
The evening saw me strut my stuff at the local market, after all, I was on duty. As the sun dipped behind the Wrecsam skyline, my glitter shimmered, casting its spell across the town square. They just adore Tutu Queen here, they simply couldn’t get enough! I had the best time prancing around the stalls, getting people in the spirit of a wonderful Wrecsam evening – what’s more magical than some beautiful tunes and a few witty stories shared with new faces! A few local songs that were beautifully written about Wrecsam! And you simply must try the local food – there is a little shop just tucked away that has the best cake.
Now, I know what you're thinking – "Pink Tutu Sparkles, how did you possibly fit all this into just one trip?!" Well, darling, the secret is to never miss an opportunity for a magical moment! When you have the spirit of a queen and the heart of a butterfly, anything is possible. And that’s what Wrecsam truly taught me.
My adventure ended just as it began – with a dash of glamour and a wink towards a world that waits to be explored, in my bright pink tutu, and my very own fabulous pair of shoes. And I can tell you right now, you’ll see me again!
