Welcome to my blog, www.pink-tutu.com, your ultimate guide to all things pink and sparkly! This is post number 7384 and I'm bursting with excitement to share my latest adventure with you! Today, we're heading to the beautiful, historic town of Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales!
Now, I know what you're thinking: a drag queen in Merthyr Tydfil? Well, let me tell you, this town has more sparkle than you can shake a sequined feather boa at! I was so excited to bring my pink-tutu-tastic energy to this wonderful corner of Wales, and it didn't disappoint.
Getting there was a delightful journey, too! Of course, I travelled by train - I absolutely love the glamour of hopping on a train with a suitcase full of dazzling costumes! Plus, who doesn't love a good train window view? It's the perfect time for contemplation and admiring the landscapes rushing by, whilst perfecting my fabulous pink eyeshadow in the reflection.
I was met by the kindest locals, who welcomed me with open arms and beaming smiles. And let me tell you, they embraced the Pink Tutu Sparkles spirit! From the friendly folks in the tea shop who helped me find the perfect pink polka dot teapot (the one with the little tutu on the handle! 😍) to the enthusiastic families in the park who couldn't resist joining in my impromptu pink tutu dance lesson, the people of Merthyr were simply magical!
A Ballet Dream Come True
Now, a big part of this trip was fuelled by my insatiable passion for all things ballet! My drag queen persona was born out of a love for tutus, fuelled by my university ballet club days, where I bravely (or maybe foolishly?) decided to wear a tutu for a charity fundraising event. And let me tell you, there was no turning back! 🩰
It was only natural that I would be drawn to Merthyr Tydfil, a town with such a rich ballet history, boasting the prestigious "Tydfil Dance Academy". This academy boasts some of the best ballet dancers in the country! Can you believe it?
And let me tell you, a visit to Tydfil Dance Academy is a must for any pink tutu-loving enthusiast! I spent a magical morning watching a class full of incredibly talented young dancers, with the air alive with the captivating rhythm of graceful leaps and twirls. It warmed my heart!
My trip also included an enchanting visit to the Cyfarthfa Castle Museum & Art Gallery, a historic building brimming with Welsh heritage. The grounds of the castle, bathed in soft sunlight, became my personal pink-tutu-themed photoshoot location. Can you imagine, a majestic castle setting for some truly breathtaking shots?! My followers were absolutely thrilled with these!
Merthyr: A Stage for Pink Tutu Sparkles
Of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkles trip would be complete without a performance, and I'm delighted to tell you, Merthyr was a fabulous stage for my show! The town square was bustling with a colourful market day and it was the perfect spot for my pink tutu-tastic performance. The energy of the crowd was electric!
I took to the stage, twirling and strutting, spreading the pink tutu magic. My setlist was packed with upbeat hits and classic dance tunes, encouraging everyone to join in with some serious sparkly shimmying. And you know what? Even the locals in their market stalls and shop windows couldn't resist swaying to the beat. The streets of Merthyr transformed into a vibrant pink-tutu-tastic spectacle, full of laughter, fun, and joy! 💖
