Today's post takes us to the charming town of Arnold, just a hop and a skip from Nottingham, for a right royal good time! I'm your Pink Tutu Sparkles, bringing you the glitter, the glam, and the endless possibilities of a pink tutu-filled life!
As you all know, I’m a huge fan of travelling by train. There’s just something about that rhythmic clickety-clack, and the ever-changing scenery as you whizz past, that sets my creative juices flowing. Today's journey was no exception, and I found myself utterly mesmerized by the rolling green fields and the picturesque villages whizzing by my window. A hot chocolate with marshmallows, of course, helped to sweeten the ride.
Now, Arnold! This little town has a special place in my heart for one simple reason: the Arnold Theatre! This little beauty is home to an incredible dance company called the ‘Arnold Ballet Collective’ and they’ve been captivating audiences for years. And trust me, you won’t want to miss one of their shows! They’ve got all the usual ballet classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, but they also dabble in contemporary ballet with stunningly inventive and bold pieces.
This afternoon, I had the absolute pleasure of attending a preview of their latest work, ‘Whispers of the Wind’. A poignant and ethereal piece, ‘Whispers’ explores the delicate balance between grace and strength, beauty and chaos. The choreography was simply exquisite, each movement flowing like the wind itself, and the dancers truly embodied the spirit of the piece. It’s definitely something to put in your diaries!
And before you even ask, darling, of course I wore a pink tutu! It wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without one. Today, I went for a beautiful vintage tutu, just bursting with pink tulle and frills. I paired it with a shimmering top, a little black sparkly bolero and my go-to platform heels. It’s a perfect combination of whimsical and sophisticated, a nod to both ballet’s graceful tradition and the modern-day Pink Tutu Sparkles!
Speaking of modern, my trip to Arnold wasn't all about high-brow ballet! I've got to share this delightful little gem I stumbled upon: The Sweetest Slice! Now, if you've got a sweet tooth like mine, this bakery is an absolute must! They've got an incredible range of cakes, cupcakes, tarts, and other sweet treats that are practically begging to be devoured. I sampled the 'Pink Velvet Dreams' cake and let me tell you, it lived up to its name. Layers of light and airy vanilla sponge with a touch of raspberry, delicately frosted in luscious pink icing - divine! They also have a selection of sandwiches, salads and even a few savoury treats, making it perfect for a quick lunch or an afternoon tea with friends.
In the evening, I was lucky enough to get a slot performing at The Pink Flamingo pub! The crowd was just so enthusiastic, and I swear I saw someone doing the ballet moves to my performance of ‘Single Ladies’ in the back! It really reminded me why I love doing what I do, it’s a celebration of life and being your best self, tutu or no tutu!
My day in Arnold left me with a heart full of happy memories and a smile that won't fade for a week. This lovely little town has definitely become one of my favourites, full of unexpected discoveries and joyous moments. From beautiful ballet performances to deliciously sweet treats, it truly had everything I could wish for. And who knows? Maybe my next visit to Arnold will be accompanied by a grand pink tutu-wearing parade! After all, that’s what my aim is all about, making everyone feel that joyful sense of fun and empowerment.
