Hello darlings! 💖 Your favourite pink tutu-clad drag queen is back with another dazzling blog post, this time straight from the charming town of Spalding!
As you know, my motto is 'life's too short to wear boring clothes', and that philosophy definitely extends to travel! Now, I'm a huge fan of exploring the UK by train or even a good old-fashioned horseback ride. There's just something magical about those modes of transportation. However, for this journey, I decided to ditch the horsey transport (alas, the livery stable couldn't handle my sparkling costume) and hopped on a comfy train carriage to reach the heart of Lincolnshire.
Speaking of comfortable, this trip called for a whole new pink tutu, my dears! It's a custom design, of course. The perfect blend of whimsical and elegant – a cascade of pink tulle, glittering with iridescent sequins that catch the light just so, paired with a top inspired by a ballerina's leotard. A statement piece, to say the least, that definitely drew some curious glances from the fellow travellers. They can keep their neutral colours; pink is where it's at, especially when you're Pink Tutu Sparkles!
Spalding itself was an absolute delight! I was drawn to the historical architecture, with its cobbled streets and charming shops, each overflowing with its own personality. I felt like I was stepping into a Dickens novel, only with way more fabulous outfits (my outfit, obviously). And the local folk? Sweet as can be. So warm and welcoming! I was greeted with smiles and compliments on my tutu, and I can't deny, a touch of "Oooh, fancy!"
One of my highlights of the trip was definitely visiting the Spalding Flower Parade. Oh my goodness, a kaleidoscope of colour and artistry! A dazzling display of floats festooned with vibrant blooms, a celebration of the town's heritage and a pure delight for the eyes. There's just something about the aroma of freshly-cut flowers that puts you in a joyful mood. It was practically impossible to resist twirling under those majestic flower arches, which of course, I did! The locals clapped and cheered, which, as always, is the best part. I believe my new pink tutu was a hit!
But no trip is complete without some serious retail therapy. You wouldn't believe the treasure trove I stumbled upon in a little boutique called 'Frock'n'Roll'. It was like walking into a rainbow! Sequined tops, flamboyant feathers, and, of course, some exquisite tutus. Oh, how I wish I could have purchased everything! I managed to resist, with the promise to myself that a future shopping spree awaits me in Spalding.
As evening fell, it was time to spread the Pink Tutu Sparkles magic, you guessed it, with a fabulous performance! This time, the stage was a bustling local pub, complete with friendly patrons and an eager audience. The energy was electric. People danced, sang along, and truly embraced the joy of the moment. It's those moments, those shared moments of laughter and dancing, that really fuel my love for performing.
But what’s a drag queen’s evening without a bit of sparkle? We headed over to the local theatre after my show, enjoying a theatrical masterpiece by Shakespeare himself (a rather good “As You Like It”). Honestly, you would have thought it was a Pink Tutu Sparkles performance with how much I squealed in delight during the dance sequences. (Spoiler alert: Shakespeare could really write a good romance)
It was such a delight to escape to this historic town for a while. It felt so grounding. To feel the warmth of the local community, the vibrant buzz of the markets, and of course, to inspire the good people of Spalding with my very own brand of flamboyant, pink tutu-powered fun!
