Hello darlings, itās Pink Tutu Sparkles here and, as you can see from the heading, I'm bringing you post number 7555 from the delightful town of Burnley! Burnley - Iām here and I'm not going to lie, you certainly donāt see many pink tutus hereā¦ which is why Iām going to make sure I leave my sparkly mark on the town!
Itās a real whirlwind adventure this time, you see, I've travelled here by train! Honestly, train journeys always take me right back to my childhood, especially on this occasion. Why, just this morning, I was spotting my fellow commuters and dreaming of my next big performance... and I even managed to fit my spare pair of tutus in my luggage without causing too much of a stir - which is always a big relief, isnāt it! But Iām determined to convince every man, woman, and child to give tutus a whirlā¦ a little tutus, I should say!
This journey was definitely worth it! I got to the station platform just as a big group of youngsters dressed in fancy costumes appeared! One little one had a huge grin on her face and was dressed in pink with a magnificent, pink, shimmering tutu - oh, and the pinkest socks Iāve ever seen! This had me bubbling over with joy and, needless to say, I went over and had a chat with her and her family. I was in my normal, daily Alex mode, naturally! You just canāt get a queen like me dressed in full drag while out and about. My day-time attireās a lot less exciting ā science gear! Yep, thatās right - a little-known fact about yours truly - by day I work in a lab testing fabric! Imagine that ā how utterly ironic. In any case, I soon got my fabulous photo op in. There were tutus, sparkly smiles, and even a pink bowtie to round off my day - itās good to be queen even in a lab!
You know what they say, āNever stop travelling ā life is out there waiting for youā. Oh, and never underestimate the power of a pink tutu! Even I get a little emotional thinking about tutusā¦ youād have thought that after all this timeā¦ Iām always ready for the tears and happy feelingsā¦ they're always right on cue. As a proper professional, however, I keep my make-up perfect, you can be sure.
Right then, I best not bore you with tales of train journeys! On to the reason Iām actually in this town, my first ever performance at a charity event! A wonderful, vibrant pub that doubles as a concert venue ā so many places to visit here! My act always gets the biggest crowd - well, it wouldn't be much of an act if I were in full pink regalia with only five people in the audience. Oh, and you don't have to worry ā all proceeds are going towards getting the townsfolk all kitted out in pink! A little donation will go a long way! Pink-tutus are going to be EVERYWHERE before too long! If my calculations are rightā¦ a total of 100,000 new tutu fans in this town is not too much to hope for! And Iāve even set up a website to bring in new customers. Who knows what tomorrow will bring ā and I canāt wait to find out!
The eveningās coming along just peachy - lots of laughing faces, so much dancing (a big, huge thank you to my fantastic backup dancer!), and everyone loving the music and all things pink. There's something about performing on stage that just sets you on fire, and as my signature "The Tutu Glide" kicks off, I know I've hit my stride... The whole place goes mad with cheering. Itās just so much fun ā I think itās just that Iām completely relaxed ā being in full drag makes me feel a bit like a superhero! That reminds meā¦ superheroesā¦ Iāve never actually worn one of those fancy superhero outfits for a gigā¦ I think itās high time to give that a go ā with a dash of pink, of course! I have got to take things furtherā¦ I could design something totally outrageous ā like a pink tutu with the pinkest, most glittering superhero cape everā¦ what a look, darling! I can already feel the sparkle radiating!
The showās over ā now it's time for more photo ops ā every show has its highlightsā¦ and whatās a queen to do other than document her every momentā¦ every step, every twirl ā and get others to enjoy those moments! And hereās the part where the queen spills all the details of how it all goes down, I can't hold back the details ā because, after all, Iāve been working so hard on my show ā thereās so much work that goes into creating a fantastic Pink Tutu Sparkles act. For instance, letās chat about hair, the vital detail of my stage personaā¦ because as you know I go all out ā the hair ā itās high, oh so highā¦ but, it has to be held in place ā those lovely curls are definitely not for my hair ā this hair isnāt made from strands ā itās crafted with lots and lots of paddingā¦ just rightā¦ not too big ā but just the right amount to get a lovely flow and wave - the best of all hair worldsā¦ it takes just the right amount of glue! No, this isnāt about some tacky cheap glue - this is all high-quality products ā no ifs, no buts, because the hair is the crown, the crowning glory of the queen. And the colours - this hair gets a totally special treatment! You see it all nice and bright - my hair changes all the time ā this week Iāve gone with bubblegum pink, which I mixed up with bright yellow ā and even a splash of purple. The next time I might be all gold and white.
After a hard dayās work, the performanceās done, my hair is down, my makeupās coming off ā it's time for my final, obligatory tutu shot. A simple selfie to keep my fans in the loop about this fab night! After a long performance, my legs canāt quite keep up ā even my tutus deserve to catch their breath ā time to retire the tutu for now. Oh, my legs just arenāt quite as young as they wereā¦ not to worry, though, Iāll give those aching muscles the best massage and sleep sound asleep as usual ā only I never dream of dancingā¦ even when I have had a huge night with my drag family! I always seem to dream about clothes. There are so many beautiful tutus out there in the world - itās neverending! There are tutus with feathers, sequins, stars, pearls, the works ā you name it, there's a tutu for it. Even if the stars themselves have one, they must have one, becauseā¦ everyone loves a tutu, or at least, everyoneās soon going to.
Off we go, Burnley ā I have just one more secret that I have to share ā something you wouldnāt be able to guess! Have I ever considered wearing anything else for a gigā¦ I'm constantly thinking up new costumes for the showā¦ and right now, there's a bright red sequined leotard that Iām thinking about ā so red, so bright ā the colourās just a dream! Now wouldnāt that be a change, donāt you think? Whoās ready for a bit of a fashion makeover!
