Blyth: Where the Sparkles Met the Sea

Hiya darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to spill the tea on my latest adventure! This is blog post number 7668, folks, so you know I'm a seasoned blogger! You can find all my ramblings and sparkly snaps over on www.pink-tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things tutu-licious!

So, this time, I swapped my usual Derbyshire hills for the bracing North Sea air of Blyth! It's a little seaside town in Northumberland, full of charm and history, and even more importantly, it had a theatre hosting a rather splendid ballet performance! You bet your bottom dollar that Pink Tutu Sparkles was in the front row, practically bouncing with excitement!

My journey to Blyth was, of course, nothing short of glamorous! I snagged a comfy first-class carriage on the train from Derbyshire, surrounded by chattering grannies and their fluffy grandchildren (so adorable!). It was like something out of a charming British film - just replace the afternoon tea with my trusty pink-tutu-themed travel mug (a gift from my wonderful mum, bless her!).

I did, however, experience a slight hiccup on my way to Blyth. The train got delayed, leaving me a teensy bit worried I'd miss the first act! Luckily, my dear old pal, Henrietta (the black cab driver I swear is an actual angel) was there to save the day! Henrietta’s taxi literally flew me to the theatre. A bit of an unorthodox arrival, perhaps, but everyone seemed delighted!

And oh my goodness, the performance itself! We were treated to an interpretation of 'Giselle,' featuring a breathtaking mix of classic steps and innovative twists. I nearly burst into tears when the prima ballerina effortlessly executed a fouetté sequence. Her pink tutu twirled with such grace!

The energy of the audience was palpable. After the show, I even got a chance to meet a couple of the dancers. They were as lovely as their performance! And as an added bonus, we all had a photo op together - I am, of course, eternally grateful to the photographer who caught me twirling in my bright pink tulle (more on the skirt later!).

Blyth didn't just offer balletic beauty, though! The next day, I indulged in some retail therapy, naturally. Now, don’t think for a moment I'm going to tell you all where I shopped! Some things are for the discerning fashionista only! (But let's just say there were vintage gems, glittery trinkets, and, oh yes, plenty of pink.)

Speaking of pink, did you know that a truly splendid dress shop was opening up in the centre of town?! The name, my dears, was 'Pink & Pretty'! As if destiny itself had orchestrated it! My credit card might have suffered, but let's face it, a good pink tutu can truly transform any outfit. And believe me, I made sure the local paper took photos for their ‘Shop News’ section - they called me “Blyth's own Pink Ballerina”!

My last evening in Blyth, however, had to be spent experiencing the town's heart and soul - its charming seaside! The sound of the crashing waves, the salty air, and the taste of delicious fish and chips (covered in a healthy sprinkling of salt and vinegar, of course!)... I'll never forget that last sunset over the North Sea. It was a beautiful, nostalgic end to a magnificent trip.

Of course, being Pink Tutu Sparkles means that even while travelling, I need to perform! The theatre had a little bar with a stage! It felt so wonderfully bohemian and free-spirited! So, after a little more than a drop or two of local pink gin (oh, how I love a delicious local treat!), I brought a touch of theatrical magic to the audience. My act that evening, 'The Pink Tutu Takes Flight' - a tribute to the majestic creatures of the sea.

I can honestly say, my trip to Blyth was magical. If you're looking for a weekend escape, where you can soak up a bit of history, enjoy some fantastic live performances, and, most importantly, feel the spirit of the sea, Blyth is calling your name!

Oh, and don't forget to wear a pink tutu, because that's how we do it!

Remember, my dears, Pink Tutu Sparkles out, until next time! Stay tuned for my next adventure. And don't forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com. I’ll be posting tons of pictures from my Blyth escapades very soon!

Keep it sparkly, Pink Tutu Sparkles xxx
