Whitley Bay, Oh Darling! - Pink Tutu Sparkles, Blog Post #7673

Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the beautiful seaside town of Whitley Bay, a haven of pink fluffy delights and gorgeous coastal charm! My glittery heart is practically bursting with excitement, ready to share all the fabulous details of my whirlwind adventure, complete with twirling, tutus and tea!

Now, as you know, this sassy queen always loves a good travelogue. And this time, it was all about the joys of getting on a train - first class, of course, darling! I can’t get enough of those comfy seats and delicious snacks (always plenty of pink-hued macarons to go with my bubbly!). The carriage was practically a runway, and I had to resist the urge to put on a show for all my fellow passengers (a little too early for that, darlings!). I think a bit of sparkle goes a long way when travelling, so I made sure my ensemble had enough shimmer to reflect all those sunlit landscapes whizzing by outside the window!

Whitley Bay welcomed me with open arms, its bracing sea air practically tingling with anticipation for a weekend of fabulosity! My accommodation was a lovely boutique hotel – think Victorian architecture with modern flair and a perfectly pink bathroom for my daily pre-show rituals, you know, glitter application and lipstick checks. You’d think my flat would be covered in feathers and sequins! Honestly, my landlord has been amazing and just keeps throwing extra fairy lights and mirrors at the space - a real ‘take it easy, it’s drag time’ sort of vibe.

Speaking of drag, darling, I had to make a show-stopping entrance into Whitley Bay. Naturally, the seaside town’s grand promenade was calling to me - a perfect spot for a bit of photo fun! I arrived with a fabulous ensemble: my signature tutu, this time in a soft bubblegum shade, shimmering like the waves on a sunny afternoon. It paired beautifully with a lavender crop top, sparkling with rhinestones – because let’s be real, sparkle is everything, darlings! With a giant fluffy pink hat, like a sugary confection, crowning the look, and matching lipstick, I felt absolutely glorious. I must say, I certainly turned some heads – and received some amazing compliments – “You're beautiful!” they'd say, "You're the epitome of the pink tutu dream!"

I made my way to the town's pier, the perfect location to channel some vintage seaside glamour. It’s so picturesque! Those wooden boards and the bracing sea air create an irresistible sense of fun. After taking some photos, I made my way down to the promenade and met a darling lady walking a tiny chihuahua dressed in the cutest miniature tutu! You know I had to ask for a selfie with my furry counterpart! Honestly, it just melted my heart.

But this trip wasn't all about glam and selfies! After a delightful lunch at a café overlooking the ocean, where I devoured the best fish and chips ever – you’ll have to trust me, darlings, these chippies deserve a five-star review – I took a scenic walk along the coastline, inhaling the crisp air, admiring the dramatic rocky landscapes and breathing in the energy of the ocean. There’s something truly invigorating about standing by the sea.

On my first evening, I got the chance to attend an amazing ballet performance. I know what you’re thinking! My drag name isn't just for show! I was at my element! There was a sense of enchantment about the whole thing – and my favourite dancer in a beautiful cerise tutu! It's always magical, that blend of grace, elegance and pure power. And guess what? There were little tutus for the littlest ballerinas. I thought I’d melt, it was such a joyous and inspiring atmosphere. A moment to cherish.

The highlight of the weekend? Oh darling, you know this! A fabulous performance at the local pub! It's never about just the glitz and glam – it's about spreading joy, inspiring, and encouraging everyone to tap into their inner queen. The pub was packed, and the crowd was fantastic, all brimming with love and energy.

My set? Pure sparkle, darling! I began with a tribute to the legendary Shirley Bassey, "Diamonds Are Forever", because this queen always loves a touch of diamonds. Then came the high-energy "We Will Rock You" that had everyone up on their feet. A sassy blend of contemporary dance routines, fabulous outfits and sparkling pink confetti. Oh, the confetti was essential! It transformed the pub into a sparkly explosion of joy! And when it came time to finish my show, a final dance routine that brought everyone on the dance floor, including the staff!

Later, after the applause and cheers died down, a young girl, maybe about nine years old, approached me. She was holding a bright pink tutu! "Can you please sign this, Miss Sparkles? I’m saving it for my first performance at school". My heart swelled! This little girl reminded me of myself, that young dreamer who fell in love with all things pink and sparkly.

I, of course, signed it with all the love and glitter I could muster. "You are so lucky, darling,” I told her, "Get those feet tapping, put your heart and soul into it, and you’ll be a shining star, a true queen! And never forget: never be afraid to wear a pink tutu!

The next morning, as the sun glistened over the ocean and sparkled the turquoise waters, I couldn’t help but think Whitley Bay had become my perfect escape, filled with fun, laughter and magic. It's an ode to those days back in the Derbyshire countryside – running around, exploring, dancing under the summer sun. The memory of it brings a smile to my face! It’s incredible how something like ballet – the grace, the energy, the dedication to perfection – resonated so deeply within me.

It all began when I tried on a charity shop tutu for fun back in university, as part of the balet club's fundraiser. Back then, the pink, the twirling, the passion for ballet – I just hadn’t fully embraced the glitter yet.

Now? Oh, this fabulous queen’s whole world has turned pink! You see, the science I do at work isn’t so different from my drag. It’s all about the analysis, the precise details, testing, and then - creating, experimenting, exploring! My science lab by day is filled with microscopes and petri dishes, by night, it's a stage filled with feathers, glitter, and sparkly tutus. The science part just keeps reminding me of the sheer artistry involved. How our skin reacts to silk. Why lace can sparkle with all that beautiful movement. It’s about exploring the magic of the body.

It’s all about expressing that inner sparkle, empowering others, and inspiring them to live their most fabulous lives. Every time I step into my glitter-covered pink tutu, it's not just about performance, it's about celebrating life and reminding everyone that there's a pink, sparkly princess within us all.

Oh darling, the world really is a fabulous place, full of magical moments waiting to be discovered, embraced, and danced upon! Keep the pink glitter shining! Until next time, stay sassy and twirl with joy!

Pink Tutu Sparkles out!
