The journey was divine, by the way! I arrived in Longton by train. The train station was such a charming place, and I could see why folks make a bee's line to hop on the steam engine at the vintage railway there. And oh, wouldn't you know it, but a few charming ladies spotted me, and one had even managed to find the most glorious pink tutu (but sadly, it wasn't the right size, the little cutie wanted to borrow it!) It seems the colour pink has well and truly gone mainstream - a real win for our cause, my darlings!
Before I tell you all about the wonderful sights and delights of Longton, I wanted to mention how I’m funding my trip! I have a little secret weapon I pull out for these sort of adventures: drag queen performance! I'm not just a sparkly performer with a penchant for the colour pink, but a versatile diva! You can find me entertaining at all sorts of events: town fairs, community centres, pubs, weddings… you name it! Just picture the scene: the venue is all set up, the lights are on, the music starts and boom! Out pops Pink Tutu Sparkles ready to put on a dazzling show for the delighted audience!
The money I earn allows me to explore different parts of the UK, try out local cuisines, and, of course, get my tutu shopping done! You see, the life of a professional tutu-wearer is no mean feat!
Back to Longton! I have to tell you, darling, Longton is simply delightful. Imagine picturesque Victorian architecture, quirky little shops selling the most beautiful and unique items - you can just feel the town’s vibrant heritage! Of course, I made sure to visit the lovely pottery museum to soak up the artistic side of the town, as Longton is renowned for its incredible ceramics and chinaware. Just one look and I immediately felt an urge to get a piece for my own Pink Tutu Sparkles collection! You know, I always love a good vintage shop. So, after admiring the museum, I did just that, visiting all the best boutiques. Imagine my delight, I even spotted a vintage pink tutu tucked away amongst some vintage dresses, all beautifully displayed behind the window. Now, I am an advocate for modern-day tutus as well, of course. But for some events a touch of the classics really brings the charm and gives me that real Victorian ballet queen vibe. I simply could not resist adding it to my collection!
And guess what I saw a little further along the street! A gorgeous little theatre, just bursting with character. The programme board said a local ballet group was about to perform there, a contemporary production about a ballerina and a unicorn. Of course, I just had to grab myself a ticket. I always feel so energized and inspired watching a good ballet.
Afterwards, I popped into a little coffee shop - always love a good cuppa and a slice of cake, to re-energize my weary legs. But wait! A huge pink cupcake was placed on the counter! I just knew they had to be designed with the Pink Tutu Sparkles fan in mind! I bought that cake, and it really was as sweet and delectable as it looked! Then, it was time for a night of dance.
This fabulous little town was definitely not done with me. After the afternoon ballet, it was time for some fabulous performances of the Longton street theatre group playing in the park. I just love outdoor performances, and this troupe was filled with incredible dancers with a genuine passion for the art, especially the ballet elements! I could really feel the magic of the local community here in Longton, as every single audience member, no matter how young, had a massive grin and loved watching the dancing - just pure, simple, raw joy from a passion for the art. What a beautiful and inspiring thing to witness.
As I put on my most fabulous outfit (naturally it involved my favourite pink tutu, because pink just fits this vibe! - I don't have any other tutu colour at all, darling!), I decided to take my place to be part of the local audience. And let me tell you, they really gave a phenomenal show, especially as they had been rehearsing for only two weeks - now that is true commitment.
Of course, no good show ends without an amazing photo-op, so, I found a gorgeous spot to do my signature ‘Pink Tutu Sparkle’s Pose’, which just involves a little dramatic hand gesture and a supermodel twirl of the tutu, of course. And, the amazing thing is, all these amazing pictures ended up online. I am actually going to be in an online magazine featuring “pinkest of pink” street artists, who are promoting pink. The magazine's name? 'Pink Sparkles'. Of course, that made me smile! I never knew I could get paid for just having pinkness and the magic of tutus flow around me. Well, I told you before - the life of a Pink Tutu Queen is truly exciting!
The next day, it was time to go home. My pink suitcase had all my essential pink accessories, and I am sure that every item was glowing from the energy of the town! But don't fret, darling. I am not saying goodbye to Longton, but merely adieu, because you will be seeing it again in my future posts.
I always say this, and now I know it’s even truer: The UK is packed full of fantastic towns full of colour and vibrant personality, just waiting to be explored! That's what I love about being a pink tutu-wearing diva - the adventures are always plentiful, and the experience is truly unique, like my tutus.
Just imagine. What if your daytime persona was some average Joe (ahem) and by night you became a fabulous, flamboyant, sparkly sensation. It sounds amazing! Maybe, my darlings, you should think about putting on a fabulous tutu and experiencing the power of pink and the wonder of the world with all its colours and flair. I just might make your tutu dreams come true, even if you are a scientist in a lab testing fabric by day! That's my ultimate goal in life. I really want to see the entire planet wearing a pink tutu. Just picture it!
