Chorley Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles Takes on the North!

Blog Post Number 7918

Oh darlings! It’s your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, ready to give you a glimpse into the latest escapade in my glamorous life! Today’s adventure sees me venturing north to the charming town of Chorley, where I'm ready to unleash my pink power and leave a trail of glitter and joy!

I must admit, travelling up north is a bit of a different vibe from my usual Derbyshire jaunts. But darling, I’m a seasoned drag queen now, nothing’s going to ruffle my feather boa! I embraced the change, leaving behind the rolling hills and swapping my usual train journeys for a hearty trot on a handsome chestnut steed (a kind neighbour was generous enough to lend him, thank goodness!). The countryside views were beautiful, though I admit, my sequins might have frightened a few startled cows!

I love embracing all kinds of transport – it adds to the fabulousness of each adventure. Remember my first-ever plane trip to a gig in Birmingham? Oh, the chaos, the excitement, and the absolutely stunning views from the clouds. Then, of course, there are the elegant train rides through rolling hills – truly, the best way to enjoy a good book and a pot of tea in the ultimate comfort and style.

Anyway, I digress… Chorley awaited, and I knew exactly how to approach this performance! A little research showed me they have a fantastic little ballet studio there, The Graceful Movement, so I thought…why not bring a touch of "Pink Tutu Sparkles" magic to their stage?

I reached out, and oh, they were absolutely delighted! The teachers were so kind, welcoming me with open arms and excited to showcase a drag queen performing in their space. The whole place was bubbling with creative energy - I could tell they were the perfect place for Pink Tutu Sparkles! We even agreed on a fabulous performance schedule!

First, a mini-masterclass with the students! We practiced pirouettes, chassé steps, and the art of expressing ourselves with our bodies. It was an absolute joy – watching their eyes light up as they discovered their inner glitter! Then, we took the main stage, my pink tutu and sparkling tiara catching the studio lights perfectly. The children loved the playful music, the twirls, and of course, my iconic twirling pink feather boa. The performance ended with everyone dancing together - and a sprinkle of glitter, naturally!

After the ballet spectacle, it was time to explore Chorley and soak up the atmosphere. A charming market square filled with fresh produce and colourful stalls was just the spot for a little shopping spree, and guess what I found? A lovely pink beret, complete with a delicate little tulle flower - a perfect addition to my performance wardrobe!

This is the real heart of what being Pink Tutu Sparkles is about, isn't it? Sharing my passion for ballet and inspiring others to embrace their inner sparkle, no matter their background. The genuine smiles, the excitement in their eyes, the joy they share when they hear the words "Pink Tutu Sparkles is in town!" - that's my real reward, far more fulfilling than any sparkly tiara.

But of course, there were performances to be done, and Chorley delivered on the promise of a vibrant entertainment scene! A bustling pub, full of warmth and cheer, offered me the perfect stage. It was my typical dazzling, full of playful fun routine, filled with dance, silly jokes, and enough sequins to rival a disco ball. I left the pub feeling a little hoarse from the singing, but energized, full of love for the town, and ready for the grand finale: the magnificent, ancient, Chorley Castle!

The Castle had an air of mystery about it, a regal presence commanding attention. This wasn't my usual backdrop, so I thought, “what if I give my performance a little fairytale twist?" And it was an absolute delight! The ancient walls echoed with the sounds of my music, the dramatic backdrops provided an elegant stage, and my sparkly pink tutu stood out against the stone like a beacon of pure joy. The crowd were fantastic, laughing along with my jokes and cheering with delight as I danced, all set against this incredible historical background.

By the time the final curtain fell (or rather, my pink feather boa swished elegantly through the air), I was completely exhausted but elated! I had sprinkled a little Pink Tutu magic on the charming town of Chorley and, as I always say, there's no better feeling than sharing joy, spreading glitter, and encouraging everyone to wear a pink tutu!
