Scunthorpe Sparkle: Tutu-ific Travels, Post #8073!
Oh darlings, what a day! I've just landed in Scunthorpe after a rather thrilling journey. Remember how I promised you all I'd get everyone wearing a pink tutu? Well, Scunthorpe is my first stop on a massive tutu-tastic tour across the whole of Britain! It's gonna be fabulously fun, I can just feel it.
You're probably wondering how I got here, right? Well, I don't just materialize on stage with a poof of glitter dust, darling. This week's trip was particularly exciting, because, instead of a train (oh how I do love a train ride - such glamour!), I decided to try something completely different: a horse! I know, I know, it sounds positively bonkers, doesn't it? Well, it was a bit, actually. A lovely lady named Beatrice (wearing a floral dress and a hat with feathers, naturally!) owns a horse farm near Derby. We've been friends for years, and she swore she could teach me to ride! I must say, riding a horse is no mean feat when you're in a pink tutu, but the feeling of wind in my hair, the gentle rocking, and seeing the rolling fields fly by was simply magical. I swear, I almost felt like a real-life fairy princess!
But enough about the journey. It's Scunthorpe's turn to shine, and it really is! It might not be the most glamorous city in the world, but it's definitely got its own charm. It's all about community, darlings, and they've embraced me and my pink tutu with open arms. I met a group of the sweetest elderly ladies at the town hall (they all wore the cutest cardigans and hats!) who invited me for a spot of afternoon tea. They absolutely loved my performance (and were surprised to find I actually work in a science lab by day!) and were positively thrilled to hear about my big pink tutu mission.
After my tea with the ladies, I popped down to the local bakery for a couple of very pink cakes - one for myself, and one for my fabulous drag sister, Lola Sparkle. (We’re both pretty attached to our sparkly tutus!) Lola joined me for a night out, and I must say, Scunthorpe didn't disappoint. We enjoyed a delicious meal at the Italian restaurant with the BEST pink gnocchi (I've added a photo, but let's be honest - even the best photo can't quite capture its beauty!), then spent the rest of the evening enjoying a brilliant cabaret performance at a charming little theatre tucked away on a quiet side street.
Lola, bless her heart, was trying to persuade me to try their version of "tango," but darling, that dress was just not tutu-worthy! My hips may be great, but my legs are simply too short to be strutting that kind of sassy salsa. But Lola's had some fabulous adventures while wearing her own, unique, silver glitter tutu (you HAVE to see a picture, it's simply iconic!) , so I’m sure her own tutu-filled journey will take her far!
But, you know me - I don't want this blog post to just be about my own fabulous travels. This isn't a "me, me, me" kinda blog, darling! I’m here to inspire you all, and to share some pink tutu wisdom with the world. Remember, we are all queens, we are all princesses, we are all sparkle and magic!
So, whether you're in Scunthorpe, Derby, or just your local bedroom, I implore you: go pink! Go Tutu! Life’s way too short not to spread a little sparkle.
