Neath: Tutu Travels Take Me To Wales!

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving tutu queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! 💖✨ Welcome to blog post number 8136! Can you believe it?! I'm absolutely thrilled to be posting from Neath, Wales! It's my first time in this beautiful part of the world, and I'm already in love!

You see, I’m a big believer that life is about exploring and experiencing new things, especially when it comes to…well, anything with a pink tutu involved, darling! I simply can’t resist a new adventure in a dazzling new outfit!

I have to confess, I arrived by train - I was so excited to arrive that I actually got on the wrong one! You wouldn't believe the lovely woman next to me. When she saw me with my big pink fluffy tutu bag (don’t worry, all my sparkly outfits are carefully packed inside), she had the biggest grin and we spent the journey chatting about her granddaughter who was joining ballet classes. I even persuaded her to wear a little pink tutu for a snap (it was a bright pink tulle headpiece – a lovely little peek at her crown of glorious grey hair) for my blog! Honestly, that’s the beauty of wearing a tutu. You meet amazing people. 💖

As for getting to Neath, I can’t thank you enough for your continued support, darlings! You see, my love for tutus and sparkly gowns keeps my life buzzing with excitement! Performing across the UK, from the Brighton pier to a little festival near Stonehenge, it’s how I manage to finance my Tutu Travels. I do my very best to bring joy and laughter to every audience! So a big thank you from the bottom of my sparkly pink heart to all my fans!

Now, about Neath…

Firstly, oh-my-gosh the castle! It is absolutely breathtaking. You know me – all things grand and imposing, and the Neath Castle was absolutely my kind of place! Imagine… a historical marvel nestled in the midst of a bustling, historic town. I swear, the very walls whispered stories of brave knights and royal banquets! I took about a hundred snaps in front of its imposing facade (can’t believe I forgot to pack my fairy wings). A little tip - don’t go looking for King Arthur or Merlin, those two are more of a Camelot bunch!

But before we delve deeper into the magic of Neath, allow me to share a little tidbit about my humble beginnings! You see, even I started somewhere. Remember those early days back in Derby? I'm sure you remember how I got my start... In case you missed it (and honey, it was quite an adventure!), I used to spend all day surrounded by beakers and chemical equations in my little lab, surrounded by boring fabrics and colour samples!

Yes, that’s right. By day, I was a humble science nerd! And I was good! Really good, actually. At university, I actually won an award for developing a brand new waterproof fabric - that's why my tutus are so amazing! I had to hide my real love – all things sparkle and glitter!

Now, remember what I said about a tutu leading to the best things in life? Well, in the middle of it all, the university’s ballet club, just so happened to be looking for a volunteer. Now, let’s just say…I found a spare pair of white tutus – and, honestly, it was destiny! I swear, that moment I donned the tulle and stood under the soft, fluorescent lights of the rehearsal hall, I knew – this was where I was meant to be. The twirls, the leaps, the costumes – I knew that there was a hidden spark, waiting to be ignited! 💖

After months of perfecting my spins and pliés, that special night finally arrived - I got my first shot on stage! You know me, I wasn’t just there to prance around, honey! I transformed my routine into a dazzling, glamorous show. Think tutu, glitter, pink, a sprinkle of pink and oh yes, my signature tiara! That night, I felt complete! My journey from a boring scientist to a flamboyant pink tutu-wearing drag queen had begun.

Fast forward a few years…and here I am. My little, pink-filled dream. Travel. Perform. Explore. And, most importantly…to make everyone fall in love with tutus! It's an infectious kind of magic, darling. You can't help but smile when you see a pink tutu. They bring a touch of whimsy to everything!

Oh darling, but Neath, you beautiful Welsh town! You've given me so much inspiration. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon the Neath Amateur Operatic Society. Talk about show stopping performances! And I've just discovered this wonderful group of local drag queens - ‘The Neath Queens'… such incredible talent, especially in their lip sync battles (it was almost enough to get me to take off my tutu!).

We have a great theatre here and, you know, after a lovely plate of cwtch (with the most incredible, delicious local welshcakes - you HAVE to try them!) , the next day I booked my first ever show in this charming Welsh town! What’s not to love?

Now darling, I must tell you about this quirky and vibrant local shop I discovered - it was packed to the rafters with an incredible range of handmade tutus! Pink, purple, turquoise, all adorned with glittery appliqués! I just had to bring back some sparkle to adorn my pink, tulle treasure! I managed to persuade the owner to pose with me in front of her window, a true fairy tale setting for my first #PinkTutuInNeath Instagram post! (I can’t thank you all enough for all your love for it!)

Anyway, enough gushing about Neath - though you'll get a lot more of my adventures in this amazing place! It's really true when they say that traveling opens your heart and mind. You can only truly appreciate your own little world when you see how different others can be. And to me, Neath just proved it - I think they’ve become my new little Welsh wonderland.

But I haven’t even mentioned my Welsh pony adventures yet… but that’s a tale for another time!

I’ll be heading off soon…maybe to Scotland next? Who knows…you’ll have to wait and see!

Until next time, darlings. Don't forget, life is meant to be lived with a little sparkle in your heart (and perhaps a little pink tulle)!

Love,

Pink Tutu Sparkles ✨💖
