Hello darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from the glamorous seaside town of Blackpool! This fabulous frock-tastic queen is absolutely bursting with excitement, because this trip is a real dream come true - think fish and chips, candyfloss, a roaring beachfront and... you guessed it! Pink tutus!
Now, let's rewind a little, shall we? Last week, I was frolicking in the Derbyshire countryside, twirling my way to my local theatre for another evening of balletic bliss. Let me tell you, watching the ‘Nutcracker’ made me feel like I was back in my own little pink tutu world – magical, beautiful and totally sparkly. But as fabulous as my hometown is (did I mention I am the resident expert on vintage tea shops and cake bakeries?) , a proper queen needs a good dose of seaside fun every now and then. So, as you all know, Blackpool beckoned.
Oh, and did I tell you how I got here? I actually made my way here on the back of my best pal, Sparklehorse. That’s right – my trusty steed was ready to carry me to my next adventure. He loves a good galloping pace, just like my love for all things pink!
And, as I always say, my dearest darlings, life is just a little bit sweeter with a pink tutu, right? It's been my mantra since that magical day in university when I slipped into my first pink tutu for charity. Little did I know it would change my life forever. From a humble scientist testing fabric for strength to a dazzling pink tutu-wearing queen, my journey has been one glittering pink explosion.
Now, I just need to sprinkle some pink tutu magic on you lot, right? That's the ultimate goal. Spread the love!
So, back to Blackpool, let's talk about this stunningly beautiful beach town. It truly feels like a film set! And believe me, my darlings, this is a place that loves to party – a fabulous haven for drag queens, fairies, mermaids, and all manner of fabulous folk, and where pink is a constant theme! There are, of course, countless amusement arcades with enough win-a-fluffy-toy prizes to fill a pink tutu factory and, just a stone's throw from the beach, there's an array of shops, cafés, and restaurants that would put a feather in even the most fabulous queen's cap.
For my arrival outfit, I decided to channel the spirit of the seaside - think a dazzling mermaid dress, an ocean-blue sequined bolero, a sparkling turquoise hat, and the obligatory (and obligatory!) pink tutu, topped off with a sea-green scarf, because every pink tutu queen has to bring a little something of her hometown with her! I was channeling those gorgeous coral reefs, only, you know, sparklier, fabulously glittering, and oh-so-pink!
And, oh, my lovelies, what are sequins for if not to get that extra bit of glam going, especially at the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom? It’s absolutely mesmerizing! It's like stepping into a bygone era – a beautiful ballroom, all mirrored walls and swirling chandeliers, where they host fabulous dancing competitions, and everyone dances like they've just been born!
Speaking of fabulous dances, I couldn't miss out on the opportunity to dance like a pink-tuted princess at the fabulous Blackpool Tower Ballroom, could I? It’s so elegant and grand. I totally fell in love with the Victorian elegance, the opulent dance floor, the way light danced off the polished wood, and of course, the incredible live music, because everyone needs a little bit of that good, old-fashioned dance hall glamour. You can really feel the history and the energy in the ballroom, and that feeling just bubbles up from within – I think it’s safe to say that I am a proper dancer, through and through.
Naturally, I needed a spectacular ensemble for my ballroom performance. This is no place for timid pink tutu designs – oh no, this required the ultimate pink tulle delight! I envisioned something both delicate and daring, so I found a delightful gown, in a pink shade that is, well, perfectly pink! I don’t even know the technical name. I’d have to consult my Pantone fan – you know how we queen things, we’ve got our system, my darlings, and a little technical vocabulary is never out of order! This dress, however, needed a special touch, which, you all guessed it! Is it the glorious pink tutu I designed with layers upon layers of the softest, wispiest tulle I could find, of course, decorated with all the sparkle in the world! This design, darlings, is about embrace-the-glam, about exuding confidence! You want to make people remember you? Wear pink! It doesn't hurt to sprinkle in some extra glitz and glamour with every twirl either.
Now, as an absolutely fab Pink Tutu Queen, it is an obligation to indulge in some good old-fashioned seaside treats. After all, no Blackpool adventure is complete without an indulging in a portion of freshly-made, golden brown fish and chips – my absolute favourite, alongside, of course, a little candyfloss. The candyfloss has the magic touch of transporting us back to our youth, those sunny day at the beach days where every little dream seemed possible.
And because I always believe in sharing, I decided to hand out little pink tutus to children all over Blackpool! The delight in their eyes as they held their pink tutus and spun around, was just magical! Imagine it, all the children swirling and twirling, sharing the wonder of pink tutus in this seaside wonderland – that's true Pink Tutu magic! You know how much I love spreading the joy of pink tutus. The ultimate mission is to get every child (and adult, why not?) wearing pink tulle with the right swishy attitude and to look so wonderfully beautiful in a colour so fabulously bright. The world really is a better place in pink, darlings! It is truly uplifting! The smile on the children's faces, the glee, the ecstatic little 'Thank you!'s... It was all absolutely beautiful, and absolutely perfect. And you just know there are plenty more where those came from.
But wait! A pink tutu queen has even more planned while at the beautiful Blackpool: a gig at the famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom! The biggest thrill about Blackpool is seeing it with my eyes as a Pink Tutu queen – how my very presence can make the ordinary suddenly magical!
As I write this blog, the anticipation is mounting. I have designed an outrageous outfit to dance on the most iconic dance floor. What will I choose for my first appearance on stage, my lovely darlings? The anticipation is delicious. And I'm excited to share it with all of you!
The first step towards getting ready was to head down to the shops! A Pink Tutu Queen just has to check out the very latest pink tutu fashions, of course! Oh, how I love finding the perfect little touch. You'll just have to wait to find out about my dress, which is pretty much the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen - it will leave you all speechless and screaming 'Queen of pink' from the rooftops. It will match perfectly with my fabulous ballet-inspired outfit.
Speaking of, my dear darlings, this entire trip has just about been dedicated to honoring the grace, the elegance, the sheer talent of dance and balletic beauty. What's better than wearing a gorgeous pink tutu, with some sparkles to top it off? Nothing! You just have to get your pink on and you will know exactly what I mean! There is no other choice! I’ll be channeling the graceful swans and sprightly ballerinas I saw dancing with a grace I can only dream about – and we all know, if there's one thing Pink Tutu Sparkles does, it's dance. So expect twirling, leaping and maybe a little bit of stage presence to add a little more spark to Blackpool.
There is only one thing I want more than dancing: sharing the magic of pink tutus with the entire world. Imagine, my darlings, an entire city – and the entire world for that matter - wearing pink tutus with fabulous attitudes – now, that’s the ultimate, ultimate dream come true, right? A beautiful symphony of pink twirls and twirls with that all-important magical pfffft – because we all know how to add that little touch to our outfit, don’t we, my lovely darlings?
But now, it is time for me to get ready for the night ahead – because my Pink Tutu Sparkle is about to hit the town!
