Crewe: The Pink Tutu Sparkles in Cheshire

Hello darlings, and welcome to Post 8344 of Pink Tutu Sparkles' Daily Blog! You know, sometimes even Pink Tutu Sparkles gets a bit tired of sequins, sparkles, and pink tulle – even a drag queen needs a break, right? Well, don’t worry, my loves! My break ended this week and it’s time to get back to my travels. After a rather luxurious day of… well, science (don't get me started!), I was back in my favourite Pink Tutu Sparkles frock and making my way to Cheshire.

Now, you see, Crewe is an important location for me. It's a railway town, see, and who doesn't love a train journey? For this gal, it’s a whole fashion statement. That little puff of steam, the whistle, the gentle rocking of the carriage as you clickety-clack across the countryside – all those little touches, they really add something extra to a girl’s travel day. You wouldn't believe the attention you get from train spotters in my full, feather-trimmed, pink tulle, high-heel boots, and statement-making diamond necklace combo.

Of course, the trip to Crewe was also for an exciting performance at The Globe, the fabulously glamorous town centre club, a true gem of Crewe nightlife. So, of course, I had to dress the part. It wasn’t your average black sparkly gown, no no, no… We’re talking full on Pink Tutu Sparkles drama! Now, I can hear you squealing "What is she wearing this time?!," but just trust me on this. It was divine. We're talking a soft peach tulle tutu with feathers – not the gaudy kind – elegant, oh-so-subtle. A matching blush-pink sequined bodysuit and a glittering, diamanté belt - I literally shimmered as I walked down the street. Honestly, the sparkle reflected on the damp pavement and nearly blinded everyone! My hair was piled high with a pink and white bird of paradise feather comb (always keeping the floral theme on point, even when not at the ballet!), and I was dripping with delicate pink earrings, all perfectly paired with an absolutely stunning fuchsia sparkly, open-toe stiletto that you could see a mile away.

By the way, did I mention I’d brought my trusty, perfectly pink, glitter-covered travel trunk?

You guys, there’s a reason they call it "the Sparkles" – and let me tell you, I brought all the sparkles with me. My act is always high energy and lots of fun – even if you are new to drag, you’re sure to enjoy my upbeat pop and sassy, dance routine, and honestly, some of the best lip-synching you've ever seen. And yes, it did all come with a little bit of glittery, twirling, fun-filled tutu time – just to get you truly moving, darling! But enough about me and my performance. Now, I need to tell you all about the amazing shops and vintage markets that Crewe has! And trust me, it wasn't all just bargain pink tutu options… although I did have a good rummage. The real find though was a tiny shop tucked away on a cobblestone side street called The Enchanted Thread. Seriously, it’s a haven for everything pink – think hand-crafted sequin gowns and shimmering fabric galore, with a whole corner dedicated to tutu designs! This shop would be any drag queen’s heaven. I got myself a wonderful little pair of diamante-embellished leggings with fluffy pink trim and of course, it was on sale! Oh, the joys of thrift shopping.

But before we get too lost in the world of glitz and glamour, there's a more serious side to this post. The beautiful Victorian architecture of the Crewe railway station is an important part of British history. The station was the birthplace of rail travel in the region, and today it's a symbol of the town’s industrial past. This past plays a role in how the town's people have made their lives. Now, for those who don't know, I actually started my own journey in a very similar place, Derbyshire, where my roots go deep. While I am a London girl at heart now, I’ll always hold a special place for the hardworking folk in those mining towns.

It’s all so very relatable, this love of travel, the sense of journey and of bringing a little bit of beauty and flair into any town or city you might be visiting. If you look around, it's easy to find this common bond we share as humans. No matter where you go in the world, there are always people eager to celebrate a little joy, a touch of glitz and glam, a new opportunity for expression, just like I do in my own quirky way with the tutu and the sparkle. Now, even though I’ve travelled to far-flung places all over the world with my sparkly persona, my drag journey began so very simply, when I decided to embrace a different side of my life. That first time, standing under the stage lights in a fluffy pink tutu, was all the encouragement I needed. And the rest, as they say, is history!

And history is always a good starting place, isn’t it? It reminds us where we've come from and allows us to look toward the future, not as individuals, but as a community that supports each other's choices and dreams. As for my own future, I'm keeping my pink tutu goals simple and full of sparkly sunshine. My plan is to visit all the most wonderful towns in this amazing country – that is my mission! If you want to come along with me on this fun adventure, let me know. Leave your ideas for my next tour stop in the comments.

And remember darlings, no matter what you look like, always wear your pink tutu with confidence, because you deserve to be seen. Because let's face it, with your smile, that twinkle in your eye and your infectious, heart-filled laugh, you, too, could be a Pink Tutu Sparkle – you just haven't discovered it yet!

And before I sign off for now, there is a big request I’d love you to help me with! I am looking for a perfect horse! One that's a little bit elegant, a touch cheeky, with an extravagant dash of …well… sparkle! We all know my love of horses is pretty much equal to my love of all things tutu, so, naturally, I am considering investing in my very own steeds – after all, it's time to put all the pink horses in the spotlight! Imagine my outfits, a beautiful show horse, maybe a magnificent Andalusian. Now that's a vision! I’ll need some serious glitter though – if anyone knows of a reliable, affordable glitter spa or horse hairdresser in the Cheshire area, please get in touch!

So, with a big sparkle in my eye, I sign off for now!

Happy Travelling, and be sure to visit me at www.pink-tutu.com. See you tomorrow, babes.
