I've just arrived in Blyth, nestled right on the coast of Northumberland, and lemme tell ya, it's a breath of fresh sea air! The energy is electric, and I just know this town is going to embrace the Pink Tutu spirit with open arms - and legs! 😉
But first, the journey. You see, darling, this queen prefers to travel with a bit of grace and style. The train, naturally! No noisy planes, just a lovely chugging rhythm that sets the mood for a fab adventure. Imagine it: Me, adorned in a fuchsia satin coat, perfectly coordinating with my pink feathered fascinator, enjoying a pot of tea with some delightful lemon cake, whilst gazing at the passing scenery. It's all so wonderfully... civilised!
Now, the only thing that could make my travel day even better? Finding a magnificent equestrian carriage to take me into town. Can you imagine the scene? Me, perched on a cushioned seat, in my full Pink Tutu regalia, arriving at the Blyth Town Hall? Imagine the photos! My Instagram is practically crying for it! I bet even the Queen would approve of such regal entrance! (If only we had a horse drawn carriage, wouldn't that be a delightful, pink-tastic treat? Let's add this to my ever-growing bucket list! 💖)
Blyth, you haven't seen a sight like Pink Tutu Sparkles before! As I'm sure you know by now, my dear readers, the essence of the Pink Tutu Sparkles journey is all about spreading the joy, the glamour, and of course, the sheer, unadulterated FUN of pink tutus! This time, my inspiration stems from the vibrant local community. You see, darlings, Blyth is practically a ballet haven! Not just any ballet, but one that reflects the soul of the seaside! I've been scouring the town for those amazing shops selling stunning nautical knick-knacks - oh, the perfect inspiration for a pink tutu-inspired performance! ⚓️ 💖
There's so much to do in this charming town. I’m already planning a visit to the Seaton Delaval Hall – a grand historical landmark which promises stunning architecture and plenty of picture-perfect corners for Pink Tutu Sparkles selfies! Then it’s onto the beaches for a delightful stroll, with the crisp sea air ruffling my feather boa! (Gotta keep that hair and make-up impeccable! 😊).
I'm practically bubbling over with excitement for my evening performance at The Quayside! There's nothing like the adrenaline of being under the stage lights! 💃 It’s a community centre, but this queen is determined to make it the most fabulous, pinkest venue in Blyth! (Oh, and maybe a little pink glitter wouldn’t go amiss for the atmosphere… 😉).
Speaking of glitz and glam, you all know that a Pink Tutu Sparkles trip isn't complete without a dash of shopping therapy. You wouldn't believe the incredible vintage stores I've already found! Blyth seems to be a treasure trove of amazing finds for any fashionable drag queen. I'm already planning on creating a new ensemble that reflects the beautiful hues of the Tyne. A bright fuchsia skirt with iridescent feathers for extra sparkle – I just can't wait! 🤩
By day, my real self, Alex, might be busy analyzing fabric samples in my lab, ensuring your clothes stand the test of time. But by night, well, that’s when Pink Tutu Sparkles unleashes her inner sparkle! And what could be better than blending my two passions, science and performance, into one? The way a new shade of lipstick enhances a pink tulle fabric... truly fascinating! 😉

Well, maybe not literally legendary, but iconic to my generation of drag enthusiasts: RuPaul's Drag Race! RuPaul actually visited Blyth back in 2018! It's been a pilgrimage site for drag queen fanatics since. Oh, what a coincidence, huh? I bet it’s got a brilliant story behind it. 💅
- Did you know that, historically, Blyth was one of the largest ship-building centres in the entire North East region? I'd say it’s no wonder the town has a reputation for sturdy resilience! There’s a great deal of creativity to be found in a town that was so central to British shipbuilding in the past, right? 🚢
- Now, darlings, if we're talking about a pink tulle dream, Blyth is literally surrounded by a breathtaking symphony of pink in bloom! Springtime around this area brings on swathes of pink wildflowers called sea thrift. Doesn't that sound absolutely magical? Imagine, a sea of pink, mirroring my tutu, oh, what a vision! It would make for the ultimate photograph! 💕
- Blyth isn't just a great spot to embrace the ocean breeze and feel the sand between your toes. You know what’s extra awesome? It's been dubbed The birthplace of wind power in the United Kingdom!
