Falkirk: Pink Tutu Adventures - Blog Post #8451

Hello my fabulous darlings,

It's Pink Tutu Sparkles here, your favourite pink-loving, tutu-obsessed drag queen, bringing you another dose of glitz and glamour straight from the heart of… well, this week it’s Falkirk!

Now, you might be thinking, “Falkirk? Isn’t that a bit… out there for a glamorous queen like you, Pink?” But trust me, lovelies, Falkirk has more than met my sparkle-coated eye! I’ve discovered that a wee town like this is chock-a-block with charm and even more, with incredible stories just waiting to be discovered. And, of course, a chance to spread the gospel of tutus - a gospel that says, "Wear pink, wear a tutu, wear your fabulousness!"

Before we dive into my Falkirk adventures, a little bit about how I even got here! This week’s journey was a beautiful combination of train travel and horseback riding. I do love my steam trains - nothing quite beats the rhythmic chugging as you speed through the English countryside - but riding through the countryside on a spirited horse named Bonnie is an experience like no other! I actually won her in a charity auction for the local animal sanctuary in Derbyshire - such a fabulously fun event, complete with pink tutu-wearing participants, naturally!

Oh, darling, it was quite a sight to see! It made my heart soar like a ballerina at the Royal Opera House (where I once saw a production of “Swan Lake” - talk about some gorgeous tutus!).

I’ve always said, life is just too short for dull outfits. When I’m not busy making a scene on stage or dazzling folks with my drag performances, I’m usually found whipping up a sparkly creation from the world of high fashion, my inner-fashion designer and my secret stash of vintage materials. Let's be honest, a lot of it involves pink. Oh, my goodness, you can't live without some vibrant pink, and there is so much choice in my favourite colour at the moment, it’s a fashion frenzy! From dazzling tulle skirts and the lightest pastel hues of candy floss to full-on Barbie pink, the world is my pink oyster.

But I digress, let’s get back to Falkirk! This quaint wee town boasts the best mix of history and contemporary living that I have seen in a while. It was an absolute treat to walk along the historic Falkirk Wheel, a marvel of engineering. It took my breath away! Honestly, the juxtaposition of a structure that was once used for transport with a town full of life made my heart sing. A beautiful contrast between old and new, and a reminder that history is truly ever-present in all its forms.

But my darling, it wasn't all serious sightseeing! I had to do some ballet classes, naturally! As a rule, a visit to a new place is not complete until I’ve had a chance to work on my arabesques. So, on Tuesday evening, I was doing my barre routine, twirling and stretching, at Falkirk Ballet School! Let me tell you, these classes were as much fun as they were challenging! The students were brilliant, and I found their energy absolutely infectious. They showed such a natural passion for dancing and really made me think of my own early days at the Derby Dance School! It’s really amazing to see that even small towns like Falkirk are teeming with so much creativity and passion!

You know I had to incorporate a little Pink Tutu Sparkle into my classes, so I made a splash (pun intended!) wearing my favourite new, hand-sewn pink tulle tutu. Yes, darlings, the most beautiful creation that you will see! I am a true devotee to custom-made tutus. If I can find one in pink with sequins, that's even better. They’re all made from vintage materials from charity shops, which makes me feel a lot more ethical. It’s always been a dream to dress a room full of ballerinas, my biggest inspiration from the famous dance companies like the English National Ballet. But maybe one day, they can join me on stage instead?

This Friday night saw me hitting the Falkirk stage, a bit further away from my regular gig in the heart of Derbyshire! It’s not too far away, so the train journey there, just a short hop across the countryside was ideal for getting those creative juices flowing. After all, the trip can be inspiring for new ideas!

As the spotlights illuminated my majestic, hand-crafted tutu and the pink sequins caught every single ray of light, I felt completely transformed! You know how I do! It’s like a completely new energy! All the preparation of my pink lipstick, eyeshadow, foundation and glitter just pays off on a night like this. As I sang and danced to the most fabulous music (which I wrote myself, naturally), the audience went wild!

Honestly, the night felt truly magical. They clapped and cheered so loud, their energy was so much fun to feed off. The sound of people screaming “We love you, Pink Tutu Sparkles!” never gets old! Honestly, my drag alter ego was feeling so powerful! I felt this profound connection with my audience - we all had one thing in common: our love for glamour and everything sparkly, especially pink tutus!

The Falkirk folk even welcomed me with open arms. It’s this incredible human connection that makes all my adventures worthwhile, you know! Every new face, every new voice calling out “Pink Tutu!” gets me so excited, like a sugar rush for my drag queen soul!

This is the best part about traveling the country as a drag queen: connecting with new people from all walks of life, hearing their stories, sharing some laughter, and of course, spreading a message of acceptance, self-expression, and most importantly, reminding everyone about the magical power of pink!

And what about my next adventure? You know, my darlings, the future is as exciting as a well-stuffed glitter bag! My trusty steed and I will be off to our next adventure. Until then, you can check out my posts on www.pink-tutu.com. Don't forget to show me some love! I'd love to hear your stories!

And my darlings, never forget - always wear pink, wear a tutu, and most importantly, wear your fabulousness!

Sending all the love and sparkle from your Pink Tutu Sparkles! xoxo
