Bournville Bound: A Tutu-tastic Adventure (Post #8500)

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-obsessed, drag queen extraordinaire, Pink Tutu Sparkles, reporting live from the charming town of Bournville, just outside of Birmingham!

This week, I'm embarking on a fabulous adventure – not just any old adventure, but one that involves a delightful journey by train, a plethora of pink, and yes, you guessed it – TUTUS! My sparkly heart is already bursting with excitement for what this trip has in store.

Now, I know you lovely readers are used to seeing me in all my flamboyant glory at a swanky theatre or bustling fair. But sometimes, my dears, even a Queen needs a little change of pace. And this journey to Bournville? It's just that. Think cobbled streets, charming shops, and a hint of history with a side of delightful chocolate, because Bournville, as many of you know, is home to Cadbury's!

The train ride was an absolute joy! I felt like I was in a glamorous vintage film. I'd carefully chosen my travel outfit, a bright fuchsia two-piece suit paired with a delicate, shimmering tulle skirt, perfect for swirling and twirling in the carriage. And you just KNOW I added a dash of sparkle with my trusty, bedazzled pink fan, always on hand to create a gentle breeze of fabulousness.

Arriving at Bournville, I was greeted with a picturesque scene of quaint Victorian houses painted in pastel hues – it was just screaming for a sprinkle of pink, and I couldn't resist!

Speaking of sprinkles, I'm already plotting a trip to the Cadbury World museum, where I'm going to be a veritable ball of energy. Expect to see Instagram posts with me in a whimsical chocolate-inspired outfit (tutues are obviously involved), complete with a charming sprinkle of sass, darling!

But before I delve into the world of chocolate, my dears, I have a very special treat planned! This weekend, I'm attending the Bournville Ballet Festival. It's a delightful affair celebrating all things dance, and you can bet I'll be there, front row centre, in a breathtaking tutu. I’m not disclosing the specific colour just yet, but let's just say it's going to be one of the most fabulous tutu designs you've ever seen. Think sparkling sequins, flowing feathers, and just the right amount of whimsy, darling! I've been practising my leaps and pirouettes for weeks now, ready to unleash a flurry of pink tutus and ballet-inspired fun!

Naturally, no trip would be complete without indulging in a bit of retail therapy. This is where my mission to inspire you to embrace the magic of the tutu comes in! The charming little shops of Bournville, filled with vintage treasures, artisan crafts and even a local textile market, promise to be the perfect playground for finding some amazing inspiration for your very own tutu ensemble. Maybe I’ll find some fabulous fabrics and a few colourful accessories to add to my own wardrobe. I'm already dreaming of delicate lace trimmings and vibrant coloured sashes that could potentially turn my classic tutus into works of art. Who knows, I might even try my hand at a bit of crafting myself!

This trip, my darlings, is all about experiencing the beauty of the simple things: a scenic train journey, a warm smile from a local, and a joyful burst of pink in a picturesque town. It's about remembering why we wear tutus in the first place – because they are a symbol of pure joy, boundless imagination, and just a sprinkle of pure fabulousness. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

So, stay tuned for more adventures, my darlings, as I share with you every delicious detail of this magical Bournville getaway. Until then, remember: Embrace your inner tutu-wearer, and remember, you are beautiful just the way you are, darlings!

P.S. Do you have any favourite towns or villages that you think I should visit next? Share them in the comments below – let’s sprinkle a little pink around the world, one town at a time!

P.P.S. My love for tutus began while studying for a science degree, you know! Who would have thought a lab-coat clad scientist would be so into sequins? I was a member of the university ballet club, and one day, we had a fundraising event for a local charity where I ended up trying on a pink tutu for a costume change, and boom! it was like a lightbulb went off in my head! The rest, as they say, is history.
