Rochdale Calling! A Tutu-tastic Adventure, Post 8561

Hiya lovelies, Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you the latest sparkle from Rochdale, where the air's a bit chillier but the energy is positively blazing! 💖

It's been a whirlwind of a week, as usual! I absolutely love touring the UK, seeing new towns, tasting local delicacies, and, of course, spreading the gospel of pink tutus! My journey to Rochdale started with a rather romantic ride on the train - let's face it, the views are a bit better than the motorway! I'm talking rolling hills, cute little stations, and even a friendly chap in a tweed jacket who was very complimentary about my latest creation: a bright fuschia tutu with little sequinned butterflies - he said it "added a dash of whimsy to his dreary commute"! 😂

Once I landed in Rochdale, I made a beeline for the theatre. Now, this place was gorgeous! It was one of those beautiful Victorian buildings with intricate carvings and stained glass windows. I immediately felt a bit like I was in a scene from a grand ballet! And the excitement for the show was electric! I was booked for a family-friendly afternoon matinee, which is always so lovely because it’s the littlest ones I’m really trying to inspire. I mean, you never know! There might be a future drag queen, ballet dancer, or a champion tutu-wearing scientist in the audience!

This show was a bit different - instead of the usual drag cabaret, I was hired for something extra special. They needed a "Fairy Godmother of Tutu" to lead the crowd in a bit of a “tutu dance extravaganza”. How could I refuse? I mean, how much fun could a Pink Tutu Sparkles have? The answer: a lot of fun!

There was a fabulous audience: young kids, teenagers, their grandparents. My goal, of course, was to create an explosion of colour, silliness, and of course, TUTUS! I've gotta confess, my little dancers were naturals! There was one tiny tot, no older than four, who stole my heart! He strutted his stuff in his sparkly tutu and kept his little hand on my pink-feathered boa the entire performance. It was magical!

Now, to set the scene, I had the most incredible costume! Imagine: a dazzling pink tutu made from layers of the finest silk and adorned with glittering, heart-shaped sequins. Over the top, a vibrant purple blouse (my love for colour is out of control!) and on my head, the usual extravagant, pink feather boa and a crown crafted out of sparkling, light-up candy floss! Oh, and of course, my pink ballerina shoes – sparkly and ready to strut! You’re getting a visual of me right now, right?!

The magic doesn’t stop there! The show's director, a lovely lady called Miss Penelope (such a stage name!), gave me the best opportunity to put my theatrical flair to work! There were a couple of surprise costume changes, too, and you’ll be pleased to know they involved even more tutus. A shimmering gold number with sequined flowers made for a dazzling, whimsical effect. There was even a tutu that I actually made myself from leftover fabric and a few extra embellishments - you know, up-cycled! I called it "the eco-warrior ballerina"! 😂

After the show, the parents and grandparents told me I'd ignited a serious love for tutus in the children - my work is done here! Later on that night, I had another fantastic gig at a quirky little pub called The Jolly Frog. Think traditional beer, wooden beams, and, yes, a pink-tutu-wearing queen performing on a little makeshift stage. I mean, there’s something about seeing me in the most unlikely places that makes the magic so much better, you know?

Rochdale was full of delightful surprises. The locals were fantastic! Every day I discover the real beauty of the UK is in the towns, and how every place holds something special and unexpected. It reminded me of something I learned on one of my early trips - and I’ve learnt that if you have a tutu, there’s no place you can't go!

Of course, no trip is complete without a little bit of retail therapy! I snagged the cutest pink dress with a fluffy, white collar. Look, if a girly girl like me can look great in pink in the middle of a science lab, you can rock it on the street!

Here's what else is going on with the Pink Tutu Queen this week:

  • A Tutu-tastic Giveaway! One lucky reader will get a free hand-crafted pink tutu made by me! Head over to my website to enter the contest, but remember to get in quick – it ends at midnight tonight!

  • The "Tutufied" Series is back! This time, we're taking on the classic film "The Wizard of Oz!" This week on the blog, I’ll be posting the “tutufied” Dorothy, with the most fabulous glittery ruby slippers you’ve ever seen.

  • Next stop: Brighton! I'll be dancing in a drag cabaret show at a new venue. Can you say beachfront and fireworks? There’s a reason Brighton has the nickname “London-on-sea”!

As always, I can't wait to bring you along on this exciting journey of colour, tutus, and everything sparkly! Stay tuned for more adventures and updates on PinkTutu.com - and remember, don’t be shy! Embrace the pink tutu, it’ll bring joy to your day! 💖

Until next time, darling!

xoxo Pink Tutu Sparkles 💕
