Hello my darling darlings, it’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad gal, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and I'm so excited to share with you my fabulous adventures in Lyon! This is post number 8563 on www.pink-tutu.com - how the time flies! Today, I'm spilling the tea on all things pink and sparkly, from the magnificent architecture to the divine food and, of course, the dazzling world of ballet, all in glorious Lyon.
This week I took the train to Lyon - I love travelling by train; the world whizzes past and I can relax, sip a nice cup of tea, read a magazine and daydream. Oh, it's a truly magical way to get from place to place. Did I tell you? It's also so green; it doesn’t take so much fuel and causes much less pollution, just ask my eco-warrior friends.
Let's face it, this fabulous city of Lyon, surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills is the perfect setting for Pink Tutu Sparkles to let loose, glitter and shimmy. You know how much I adore pink, and my favourite shade - well, let’s call it ‘Lyon pink' because this place has seriously made my love of pink blossom!
Now, for a truly fabulous experience, let me tell you, visiting Lyon was like being a princess in a fairytale! Picture me twirling in my magnificent pink tutu, gazing in awe at the majestic Palais de Justice, the Grand Hôtel-Dieu, and the spectacular Hôtel de Ville - so romantic, all with a delightful Parisian twist! Lyon is truly a feast for the eyes.
Of course, no trip to France is complete without savouring their incredible cuisine! It was simply divine. I started my adventure with some of the most delicious cheese and cured meat imaginable - a French cheeseboard with the fluffiest baguette and a few glasses of red wine! Then, for the main course, I dived headfirst into the iconic bouchons – local restaurants offering the finest of Lyon's traditional fare. From quenelles, those beautiful dumplings, to Lyonnaise salad and andouille sausage - my tummy was absolutely bursting! Oh and then, for dessert… the heavenly chocolate treats, oh, those sweet, velvety, chocolate delights! Let's just say, it was all I could do not to dance in the streets!
Speaking of dance, did you know that Lyon is a renowned ballet city? Oh my, this just called to my heart! I spent my time soaking in all the fabulous artistry of the Opera de Lyon. I saw a mesmerising performance that was a truly magical ballet that moved me to tears. It left me wanting to spin around myself in my tutu, just like the dancers on stage! And the music... the music just soothed my soul - a beautiful combination of graceful movement and musical wonder. The whole experience reminded me why I’m so captivated by the beauty and grace of dance - especially in my gorgeous, pink tutus!
My Lyon adventure also involved exploring the hidden treasures of the Old Town - or Vieux Lyon as it's called. Oh, how charming and romantic it was! Narrow cobblestone streets lined with boutiques selling the most exquisite fabrics, silks and accessories. The perfect place to find an amazing pink, sequined fabric for my latest creations, or maybe an exciting, bold pattern to get my creative juices flowing for a new tutu - pink of course, what else? I could spend hours wandering around these adorable little streets. There's something magical about being surrounded by art, creativity and, well, pink!
And speaking of my love for tutus, guess what? The ballet bug has got me even more inspired, so naturally, I’ve been taking some lessons here, even doing a little bit of street performance! Yes, even my beloved Lyon has seen the Pink Tutu Sparkles shine, with some enchanting and inspiring flash performances for the lovely Lyonnais folks! What a wonderful way to express my love for dance and to see how much joy I bring to people!
