Now, let's talk Rowley Regis! The town itself is quite quaint, nestled in the heart of the Midlands, and boasting a history as rich as the velvet lining of a theatre box. It was, as I soon learned, the birthplace of the world-famous Cadbury's chocolate. That alone deserves a celebratory twirl! 🍫
And guess what, darlings? It's also close enough to the stunning city of Birmingham that I even had a quick hop into town on a delightful little train ride. The old railway carriages, with their leather seats and brass handles, added an extra dash of vintage glamour to my journey. It felt just like being whisked away to a theatrical wonderland, and who am I to resist a good dose of dramatic flair?! 🚂
As I usually do, I journeyed to Rowley Regis via my trusty steeds. This time, it was the two horses I named Sparkle and Twirl (yes, I like alliteration), they pull a grand antique coach. It’s my favourite mode of transport, of course, so grand and theatrical. We left Derbyshire at sunrise. What a magical way to start a day, wouldn’t you say?
My mission for this trip, darling? To share the magic of Pink Tutu Sparkles with everyone who'd grace me with their presence! I performed at the local fair, you know, the kind with carousels and cotton candy, and all the sights and sounds of summertime joy. And let me tell you, I was a dazzling beacon of pink, swirling and twirling beneath a big blue sky. The smiles on the faces of children and adults alike were just as bright as my sequins. 🥰
Rowley Regis gave me the chance to mingle with some truly fabulous folk. There were some incredibly talented drag artists performing alongside me, each with their unique style. It truly is amazing how drag can bring such a diverse group of individuals together, connected by a shared passion for creativity and self-expression! 🌈
Of course, no visit to Rowley Regis is complete without a little retail therapy! There were darling shops crammed with the most delightful treasures, all just waiting to be adorned with a sprinkle of pink. I'm happy to say that I came back to Derbyshire with an abundance of beautiful things to make my next drag look absolutely stunning! 🛍️
It wouldn’t be a proper Pink Tutu Sparkles trip without ballet, of course! This trip, I indulged in a glorious performance by Birmingham Royal Ballet. Oh, the artistry, the grace, the passion – it truly lifted my spirits and inspired me in ways that only true artistic excellence can. 🩰
I took a lesson with some of the Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers, who shared their skills and secrets for achieving that perfect pirouette. Let me tell you, those ballerinas are graceful and strong! Not to mention impossibly bendy! They told me I was an amazing performer, with great flair for the dramatic. I took that as a huge compliment! ✨

Alex’s love affair with Pink Tutus:
It all started with a little accident (a happy accident, of course!) It happened during my science degree. We were in the university’s ballet club, and they held a charity fundraiser, you know, for the local children’s hospital, We were all wearing crazy costumes. Well, I happened to pull a pink tutu out of the charity bag and, let me tell you, my life has never been the same. 💖 There was something about that feeling, that swishing, dancing feel of the fabric, that made me completely fall in love. I love everything about tutus!
