Rutherglen! #TutuQueen Travels š
Hiya my darling dears,
This is post #8732 on the #PinkTutu journey and Iām buzzing with excitement! I just had to get my little digital quill in motion to tell you about my incredible trip to Rutherglen, Scotland! As a queen who adores all things fabulous and whimsical, thereās just no other way to travel than by train, and let me tell you, this was no ordinary carriage ride. I packed my tulle suitcase overflowing with sparkly tutus and a few essentials - glitter, lip gloss, and my trusty pair of pointe shoes, of course. The train journey itself was like a scene out of my own personal fashion fantasy, a rolling catwalk of perfectly dressed people (oh and I definitely got some admiring glances towards my oh-so-pink ensemble!), with views of the countryside like something from a ballet.
The thing that truly makes my little tutu-wearing heart flutter about travelling is seeing how differently people interact with the world around them. In London, everyoneās always on the go, rushing to their next meeting, and Iām sure, rushing to buy the latest limited-edition pink sequinned top, because everyone knows a girl needs to stay ahead of the trend curve! (Donāt forget, the latest pink tulle skirt arrives this Saturday at Tutulicious on Oxford Street, trust me you wonāt want to miss it!) But, in Rutherglen? I saw an entire different rhythm to life, a slower pace that allows you to truly soak in the scenery, have a cheeky chat with the locals, and really get into the rhythm of the place. And for a queen who lives by the mantra āthe more sparkle the betterā, what more could I ask for?
But, my darling dears, let me tell you a secret - being a #TutuQueen isnāt just about strutting my stuff in the latest glittery creations. Thereās a science to it, really! Donāt laugh! Itās not all tulle and sequins, darling, itās about planning, creating, and meticulously picking the perfect fabric. By day Iām a regular scientist, crunching numbers in the lab, analyzing threads and testing textiles - a true master of my own sartorial universe. And this know-how gives me an edge when creating the most dazzling looks, don't you think?
You see, darling, when I was studying science back in Derbyshire, I never dreamt of being a drag queen. I was all about microscopes, molecules and test tubes. I remember my first encounter with a tutu was for a charity fundraiser. I felt this surge of magic, a transformation like a chrysalis emerging into a butterfly, and well, that was it - I knew I was destined to embrace the power of pink and sequins, to spread that extra sparkle onto the world. Now, all these years later, my science background informs my drag, but now the laboratory is a stage and the specimens are my stunning pink creations!
Rutherglen had its own special magic for me. You know those places where it's impossible to take a bad photo? Well, that was Rutherglen for me, a vibrant tapestry of cobbled streets, enchanting parks, and quirky independent shops just bursting with charming personality. I simply had to bring my very own Pink Tutu Sparkles vibe to it! My first stop, naturally, had to be the famous Rutherglen Park. I absolutely love wandering around green spaces - the fresh air invigorates my spirit! Now, a true pink-tutu-wearing queen can never be too close to a stage or performance, so I ended up performing in Rutherglen Town Hall ( a splendid building with a fascinating history that totally enchanted me, don't forget to check it out!). Oh the applause was deafening, I think even the fairies in the local trees gave a round of applause! You know the real power of my performances? Seeing the smile spread across a child's face when they spot the Queen - itās the ultimate gift! The pure joy on their faces reminds me of the beauty of sharing sparkle, laughter and a dash of pink magic!
And speaking of pink, what could be better than a stroll through a garden bursting with flowers of every imaginable hue, well, except maybe, pink! Thatās why my afternoon was dedicated to a wander through the glorious Rutherglen's Community Garden. Such colour, such beauty, and honestly, I got such inspiration for my next collection (my latest design incorporates a whole bunch of pink velvet tulips and I even got a flower crown made out of them - I may even post a selfie on Insta if it gets enough likes!) And just imagine, these blooms were grown with care, nurtured by the love of the community - just like my drag persona! There's an extraordinary connection, isnāt there? From the heart of the community to the sparkle of the stage, everything connected by threads of creativity and love!
My trip was a delightful mix of performance, inspiration and just plain fun. I want everyone in the world to know that no matter where you are, thereās a pinch of pink magic waiting to be unleashed! Whether you're walking through a park, or watching a performance in a town hall, let it wash over you. Don't just see it, feel it, embrace the pink-tutu power, itās truly magical! So don't forget, if you are lucky enough to have a Pink Tutu Queen come to your town, donāt just watch - join in, let go of inhibitions, and feel that twinkle of joy. And when you are off to Rutherglen yourself - tell those locals that their town is just utterly wonderful - it truly made my Tutu Queen dreams come true.
Stay sparkly, my darlings! And remember, in the world of #PinkTutu everything is possible! Oh and be sure to check out the latest collection from Tutulicious, youāll be turning heads in no time, darling!
Love and Sequins,
