This time, I journeyed all the way to Darlington! Now, I love travelling, and there's nothing more exciting than discovering a new place with my trusty pink tutu in tow. I must say, I've been smitten with the North East ever since I started performing at these charming venues, with their vibrant audiences and welcoming smiles.
Now, getting to Darlington was quite the adventure in itself. As a huge fan of the traditional, I chose to travel by train. I love the feeling of being enveloped by the rhythmic rumble of the tracks, watching the scenery whizz past my window, and imagining all the stories these towns hold. It felt like a fairytale! I couldn't resist rocking my favourite pink-embellished travel set, you know, matching pink-striped top, a bright pink, tiered midi skirt with little glittery details and a vintage pink velvet beret - I'm all about the statement look! It also served as a fab backdrop for my social media snaps ā weāve got to keep those followers engaged!
But let's get back to my Darlington escapades! My first stop was a visit to the charming Darlington Hippodrome Theatre. You might be wondering, Pink Tutu, what's a hippodrome got to do with pink tutus? Well, my lovelies, itās simple. Youāve got to embrace all things theatrical, right? I just adore the historical architecture of theatres, they transport me back to another time. But this isnāt allā¦ I actually got to be involved in a little impromptu performance!
Imagine my delight when the theatre manager, a lovely, vivacious woman with a contagious smile, asked me to grace the stage with a quick little ātutu-liciousā dance performance during their pre-show entertainment. Of course, I couldn't resist.
Now, the crowd was fantastic. I mean, imagine a theatre full of enthusiastic theatregoers - and guess what they all wanted? PINK TUTUS! I've been saying it for years, ladies and gentlemen, pink tutus are the ultimate symbol of empowerment and joy. That night, I spread the message, got a great reception, and was practically mobbed afterwards for selfies and high-fives. My love, it's moments like these that make all the effort worthwhile!
But the fun wasn't over yet! I even went to a local craft fair - and you know I just had to showcase my favourite piece from my latest tutu collection. A soft, silky pink confection of frills and sequins that just had to be admired. And it was! I can't even begin to describe the joy of seeing people fall in love with the joy of wearing a tutu, let alone a pink one. It's infectious!
And speaking of the magic of tutus, I had to take a ballet class while in Darlington! My love for dance is so deep, and I'm always keen to learn from experienced teachers. There's just something so liberating about gliding across a dance floor, feeling the fabric flow with you. It's a reminder to be bold, creative, and most importantly, to embrace all aspects of yourself!
But no trip would be complete without the perfect "pink tutu" experience, and let me tell you, Darlington delivered! Thereās this adorable tea room, tucked away on a quiet side street, with the most beautiful vintage teacups. We sat sipping on warm English breakfast tea and laughing away, all while wearing matching pink-hued fascinators that I'd designed myself ā gotta coordinate!
And while we're on the topic of coordinatingā¦ you wonāt believe what I did. I found a gorgeous horse-drawn carriage service - think traditional, open carriages pulled by beautiful horses! I knew instantly it was perfect. My plan? A stylish pink tutu-themed carriage tour. Let me tell you, it was an absolute fairytale come true, the perfect ending to my Darlington escapade.
After my journey to Darlington, I feel so inspired and invigorated! It was truly a perfect combination of vintage charm, a love of the theatre and some serious fun. I learned a lot about myself, my love for the art of drag, and most importantly, the joy that a simple pink tutu can bring.
