This week, Pink Tutu Sparkles went from Derbyshire, where I work my magic as a scientist by day, to Wrecsam, Wales! Yes, darling, we took a scenic journey, but it wasn't on just any old bus, oh no! Your girl rode the rails in style! A gleaming, plush train carriage, with its rumbling chug and delightful clatter, perfectly mirrored the excitement bubbling in my tulle-covered heart.
The Welsh countryside rolled by, a canvas of vibrant greens and golden hues. Imagine it, darling - a rainbow of buttercups like confetti scattered on rolling hills, fluffy sheep in their frolicking flocks, and charming, white-walled houses peeping through the greenery. Truly picture-postcard perfect, but then, darling, isn't everything pinker and prettier with a Pink Tutu Sparkles twist?
But it's not just about the countryside, darling. We had a lovely lunch at a delightful cafe with a sweet lady who makes the most exquisite Welsh cakes! Now, you know Pink Tutu Sparkles always enjoys a good bite! Let's be honest, with all the dancing I do, girl, I gotta fuel those twirls and pirouettes somehow!
Speaking of twirls, darlings, guess where I'll be performing tonight?! The Wrexham Civic Hall! Imagine, this glamorous building, its majestic facade shimmering under the city lights. And me, strutting onto the stage, my pink tutu a beacon of radiant joy. Can you picture it, darlings? Pink Tutu Sparkles, bringing her signature blend of camp, glitz, and, of course, lots of pink!
It wasn't always pink, darlings, but allow me to indulge in a little back-story for a moment.
Way back in university, when I was still Alex, just your average science student (albeit with a bit more passion for pink!), I fell head-over-heels for tutus during a charity event. Imagine a group of lads all gathered in one room, trying on pink, fluffy, fluffy tutus...It was hilarious, it was delightful, it was a moment of pure, blissful chaos! And there I was, Alex, a tad apprehensive at first, slipping into that tulle masterpiece... The world suddenly clicked. That’s when Pink Tutu Sparkles was born! And since then, my dear readers, it's been nothing but tulle, glitter, and a constant yearning to spread joy through dance and dazzling dresses!
Oh, and speaking of dresses, darling, imagine the delightful dilemma of picking out the perfect outfit! Now, any trip has to have a little pink tutu shopping adventure, doesn't it? Wrecsam's High Street, with its historic charm and trendy shops, was simply screaming out for me to unearth some truly stunning creations! The first shop we visited was bursting with gorgeous fabrics and sequined dresses! We spent a blissful afternoon sifting through piles of fabric and twirling around, searching for that perfect, "it" dress for the show! After an hour, we came across this delightful number - an electric pink satin masterpiece with a subtle sparkle running throughout! Honestly, I couldn't resist! I felt like a walking, twirling fairy princess - absolutely radiant!
Of course, we can't forget the absolute essential for a true Pink Tutu Sparkles appearance – the Tutu! I'd had my eye on a lovely, multi-layered confection at the charming Wrexham Fabric Emporium for months, and now, at long last, it was time to make this gorgeous tulle creation my own! Layers and layers of exquisite pink tulle, some shimmering, some shimmering a little more. Just the sight of it sent a thrill down my spine! My, my, oh my, did this pink creation have some pizazz! This will definitely be making a dazzling debut tonight!
And did you know, darling, Wrecsam is also home to the awe-inspiring Glyndŵr University! I know what you're thinking – 'Alex, a science student! At a University? ' Well, as much as I love my sparkling tutus and dazzling dance routines, my true passion for all things pink and frilly has actually helped me with my real-world job, you know. My day job as a fabric scientist for a textile company? That’s thanks to my studies at uni. My experiments with different fabrics, my keen eye for detail, even my flair for creating the most magnificent Pink Tutu Sparkles looks!
Who knew a love of pink would lead me to such exciting places, darling! It just goes to show that with a little sparkle and a whole lot of love, anything is possible!
