Harrow! The Tutu-tastic Capital of the North West (Blog Post #9061)
Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to whisk you off to another enchanting adventure. This time, it’s a grand gallop into the vibrant heart of Harrow, a little slice of paradise tucked away in the north west of our fabulous country. Now, hold on to your tiaras because this one is a real doozy!
You know how much I adore exploring new corners of the world, especially when I can get there in a flash aboard a magnificent steam engine train! (Imagine a pink tutu swirling around me as the whistle blows… just pure magic!) This journey, my loves, felt particularly special. The railway lines were like ribbons leading me directly to my dream… well, the dream was actually in a beautiful little dance studio nestled right in the centre of town.
It all started with a delightful invite from the Harrow Ballet Club. They saw me strutting my stuff at the Darlington Folk Festival (you remember those amazing clog dancers, right?) and they just had to have me. Now, who am I to refuse a chance to share the joy of dance with such passionate people? Besides, Harrow sounded utterly enchanting. All I had to do was convince my trusted steed, Archibald, the trusty Clydesdale, to transport my whole sparkly wardrobe to a new location! Archibald is my secret weapon for getting around on the longer trips, he can’t seem to get enough of pulling a load of glittery fabric (and I always promise him a delicious carrot as a reward, obviously).
After an epic, exhilarating, utterly enchanting carriage ride (Archibald always ensures we get a seat right by the window for the best views), I arrived in Harrow feeling absolutely giddy with anticipation. This charming little town reminded me of a perfectly curated watercolour painting - all lush gardens, cute tea shops and those old-fashioned cobblestone streets you just know hold hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. And it had the perfect amount of sparkle too, even if I say so myself! The town's theatre scene was absolutely blooming with life, with everything from dazzling musicals to hilarious pantomimes happening all year round. Talk about my kinda town!
Of course, my heart truly belonged in the dance studio, though! The Harrow Ballet Club was, honestly, a true treasure! Filled with a bunch of incredible, kind, and wonderfully welcoming dancers of all ages and abilities, they instantly put me at ease. Their energy was just...contagious. Within minutes, I was laughing, spinning, and twirling right alongside them! You can imagine me in my fabulous, vibrant pink tutu (with the most adorable little ruffle detail), all ready to learn some new routines!
And let's be honest, you don't need me to tell you that learning new dances in a beautiful studio is always a blast, right? (I know I look fabulous doing the cha-cha in a shimmering pink tutu - honestly, who doesn’t?). We spent the whole morning learning, exploring and just generally having a ball! And let me tell you, those Harrow Ballet Club members were pros. I can’t help but feel like a total beginner sometimes (in a glamorous beginner-worthy way, naturally!). But the whole experience just solidified what I’ve been saying all along… ballet truly is for everyone!
It wasn't just the dancing that made Harrow so wonderful. Honestly, it was a joy just being there! A true sensory overload of everything lovely. I can’t resist a spot of retail therapy, so obviously I had to pay a visit to the cutest little boutiques in town. My eye, my loves, fell on a stunning sequined top, the colour of a sunset - utterly perfect!
Later, the club invited me for an elegant afternoon tea at The Rose Tea Room - you know I’m a big fan of high tea and its dainty sandwiches, tiny cakes and lovely steaming cups of tea. As the afternoon sun warmed us and I felt a bit of a sparkle in my eye (you know me, a few cups of tea and the tiniest little éclair can set off my mood!) I found myself feeling truly grateful for my pink tutu journey.
So much more happened in Harrow! It was just impossible to squeeze everything into this one little blog post. Let’s just say that Harrow, darling, turned out to be one big pink tutu-tastic adventure. There were surprise appearances, impromptu impromptu performances in the park (that, by the way, was the perfect spot for a photoshoot with the most magical, swirling skirt you’ve ever seen) and lots of laughter!
What’s a pink tutu queen to do after a whirlwind visit to Harrow? Well, next stop, I’m heading for the south coast… I heard they’ve got the most amazing Brighton & Hove Pride Parade coming up - how can I miss that?! Be sure to check out www.pink-tutu.com later this week to hear all about that - maybe there will even be a pink tutu fashion tutorial on how to get the look. See you next week, loves!
