Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back from a simply fabulous weekend in Rochdale. I tell you, it's a town that knows how to party, and with me there, well, let's just say the colour pink was well and truly on the map!
This trip started with a real fairytale journey. I opted for the scenic route, of course, so instead of that dull, grey train journey, I rode a horse. A horse, darlings! It was just magical, the wind in my hair, the sun on my face, and my fabulous pink tutu fluttering in the breeze. Who needs those stuffy train carriages anyway?
My mission, as always, was to spread the joy of pink tutus, and I must say Rochdale was very receptive! My first stop was a fabulous little vintage boutique called "Retro Threads". Oh my, it was a treasure trove of delights! I found myself some utterly divine, pink-tinted silk scarves for my next performance. After a quick cuppa (always a necessity, you know!) and a slice of Victoria sponge (so delicious!), I popped on a show at the Rochdale Theatre. Now, the cast were lovely and the set design was breathtaking. I even managed to sneak in a quick waltz on the stage after the show!
Sunday morning started with a bit of ballet class - it was so good to get back in the studio and really work those muscles! Let's face it, dancing in a pink tutu takes a lot of stamina. I found the most charming little dance studio called "Twirling Twigs", nestled right in the heart of town. Their dance instructor, Miss Daisy, is an absolute sweetheart, with the most incredible vintage costumes I've ever seen.
And speaking of costumes, darling, let me tell you, my performance at the Rochdale Fun Fair on Sunday night was the most electrifying thing ever! I'd never been to a fun fair dressed in drag, but I can tell you, it was an experience! I literally brought the house down with a spectacular show under the big top. The fairgoers absolutely adored me, and it was just divine to hear all those "oohs" and "aahs"! I even convinced a few youngsters to wear a pink tutu during their ice cream break - my work is never done, but it's so rewarding to see that smile of pure, unadulterated joy on their faces!
Of course, no trip to Rochdale is complete without a visit to the famous "Rochdale Pioneers Museum" – I'm a firm believer that history, darling, is the most spectacular of fabrics, intricately woven with threads of beauty, resilience, and just a touch of rebellion! The museum was incredibly fascinating, especially for someone like me, with a penchant for the unconventional and an eye for the quirky. I even found a gorgeous vintage photo booth where I snapped some fabulous selfies - gotta stay ahead of the game, you know!
I've got to admit, darlings, Rochdale stole my heart. It’s a charming little town full of history and character. It's full of quirky little cafes and shops and the people are so warm and friendly, they almost had me tempted to trade my little Derbyshire lab for a cute little flat in town!
Oh, before I forget, I have the most incredible news: Rochdale has invited me back for a week-long performance residency! We're going to throw the most spectacular "Pink Tutu Extravaganza!" with a full week of performances, workshops, parades, and more pink tutus than you could ever imagine.
