Today I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement because I'm hitting the stage in the fabulous Hammersmith, a proper little corner of London that I've been aching to explore. And you know me, I can't resist a bit of historical theatre, so it's got to be a train journey for this gal! The rhythmic clatter of the wheels, the scent of old books, the wind whipping through my fluffy pink tulle - pure magic! 🥰
This trip has a bit of a backstory, though. You see, I’ve always loved a good story - it's what fuels my creativity as a drag artist, isn't it? And Hammersmith has its own fabulous fairy tale: It's where the legendary ballet star, Margot Fonteyn, called home. How incredible is that?! It's practically begging for a dramatic entrance in a superbly sparkly tutu, wouldn't you agree? 💃
Speaking of sparkles, let’s talk fashion. Now, as you know, I'm all about the colour pink - pink shoes, pink dresses, pink hats, even pink…well, you get the picture! And in London? London is an absolute dream for any fashion-loving drag queen. The streets are practically bursting with fabulous vintage stores, and I absolutely adore hunting down unique treasures to add to my repertoire. 🛍️
This time, my eye was caught by a vintage pink silk blouse - think delicate lace and ruffles, perfect for my Hammersmith show! I've got it paired with a feather boa so extravagant it practically dances on its own. Of course, there's also a tutu – it's a gorgeous fluffy pink masterpiece, so soft and ethereal it feels like I'm floating! ☁️
Now, back to Hammersmith, and the incredible story of this city: The name, you see, originates from “Hamme’s smith”, a Saxon smith who was famous for his skills. Now, imagine a little Saxon man with a huge anvil, surrounded by his incredible smithy work…doesn't that sound like the perfect inspiration for my act? 🤔 I might just weave a little smithy magic into my performance…
But before I get carried away by creative sparks, I can't forget about the biggest highlight of this trip - my performance! This time, it’s not just a regular venue. I'm doing my show as part of a big, lively carnival – the “Hammersmith Autumn Fair,” to be exact. Picture this: colourful stalls, the smell of candyfloss, vibrant music and happy chatter - it’s like stepping right into a musical. And of course, I'm gonna have to pull out all the stops for this one! 🎪🎉
Now, I’ve got a few things planned to really bring the "Pink Tutu Sparkles" energy to Hammersmith, things I've been practicing for ages. Imagine an eclectic blend of ballet moves and modern dance, all wrapped up in a colourful, glitter-infused celebration of femininity, inspired by the graceful, delicate spirit of ballet legend Margot Fonteyn. That’s my Hammersmith show! 💃💖
And as always, there will be a lot of audience participation – think games, singing along, and a good old-fashioned sing-along to some absolute classics. Trust me, everyone will be giggling with joy in a few hours! 🤣
